The Republican Establishment Is Rooting For Donald Trump Over Ted Cruz

It is more than an open secret that the Republican Establishment so hates Ted Cruz that they are more and more openly rooting for Donald Trump to win Iowa.

I just got today’s Hotline from National Journal. It is behind a pay wall, but it is worth noting their top story confirms what I have been seeing and hearing.

The Establishment thinking is that if Trump beats Cruz in Iowa, they can then beat Trump with Rubio, Bush, or Christie.

But that is horse manure and if they were not all incompetent morons they would know it. These guys have not made a dent in Trump’s popularity. The only guys who has is named Ted Cruz, and he has done it by being humorous and kind to Trump.

See, you had to go and introduce facts into the thread and ruin all the fun.

Well, Marcella, according to the Trump fans’ newly-minted conviction that donations to candidates are a bad thing, and only the super-wealthy elite should run for office, you will meet with their approval once you win that billion dollar lottery.

Trump IS the Establishment. This time, he creates an illusion of an "outsider", but he has been buying the Establishment for decades. He is cutting out the middle men. He wants the power for himself. He will say anything to get elected.

Cruz. He’s the one who didn’t want a government shutdown.

This article is just another GOPe and media split the vote smear attempt to rid us of both Trump and Cruz. The other candidates are either RINOs or Shillary that they would love to see in the White House.

Trump is the Briar Rabbit candidate...Cruz was the one they really feared and don’t like!....(GOPe publically: what ever you do don’t vote for Trump...! Don’t throw your vote into the Briar patch called Trump!)

trump, the “great negotiator” will come to some reasonable accommodation with reid, pelosi, mcconnell, and ryan. And will likely buy boehner a fifth of scotch. And all will continue smoothly and well. From the gope’s and trump’s perspective.

“eatablishment owns Cruz thru his donors.”

That is the stupidest and most tiring argument by Trumpets on FR. By your logic, Trump is owned by the left because Trump gave money and took money from liberals for over 30 years while making unethical deals in order to support his business.

“Freedom Caucus was his creation”

Again, this is a pretty stupid statement. Prove Cruz created or had any control over the Freedom Caucus.

By your logic, Trump gave over $100k to the Clintons so why didn’t Trump stop the Clintons from supporting a new weapons ban or selling national secrets to China? Are you saying Trump is a traitor since he helped create the Clintons??

Better a Cruz-Trump race than a Jep-Rubio race.

Of course the GOPe is always going to look out for themselves, while 0bama runs wild with his ex orders.

Of the two, Trump and Cruz, which is the big government candidate?

Hint: it ain’t Cruz.

Of the two, Trump and Cruz, who campaigned for Obama’s TPA and penned a U. S. Senate bill massively increasing the American job killing H-1B visa program?

Hint: it ain’t Trump.

It’s going to be Trump/Cruz 2016/2020 and Cruz/XXXX 2024/2028.

No, I don’t think so. Cruz doesn’t really add anything to a Trump ticket. The “I don’t vote for Liberals” circus clowns won’t be pulling the lever for Trump under any circumstance so there is no reason to put Cruz on the under card. Trump will surprise with his VP pick. Somebody from outside the beltway would be my guess.

The eatablishment owns Cruz thru his donors. His voting record and acquiescence on the Ryan speakership show it.

Exactly. It doesn’t get any more establishment than Government Sachs and Cruz is obviously comfortable with his ties to them. It’s hilarious Goldman are stashing Mrs. Cruz in the “wealth management” division when her training and government experience are in “international trade.” It’s obvious influence peddling and beltway Teddy is just fine with it.

Agree.

I like Cruz, but he needs GOPe money or he will go nowhere.

Trump can spend his own and also knows how to run a campaign for pennies on the dollar.

How could Trump pick Cruz as a running mate when he is questioning his eligibility to be President?

With Cruz, nothing changes. He has no cross over appeal. Cannot create a new broad political base. It would be like if Huckabee or Rick Santorum won.

Exactly. Cruz is not going to win over Generation Kardashian with his Holy Roller routine. Or roll into Ohio and PA touting his campaign to pass Obama’s TPA. Trump hasn’t even touched NAFTA yet. He’s got so much left in his arsenal that will destroy the phony populism of the Dems.

OTOH, Cruz is a career pol with none of that potential. The Dems have the identity politics template beat him like a drum. Trump or bust, IMO.

So the GOPe has finally figured out, we’re not going to follow their lead, so now it’s time for reverse psychology?
