“another Protestant-like revolt which would destroy millions and millions of souls with heresy”

The pope does not agree with you that protestants are damned.
From the Catholic catechism.
“ “…one cannot charge with the sin of the separation those who at present are born into these communities [i.e., Protestant churches] that resulted from such separation and in them are brought up in the faith of Christ, and the Catholic Church accepts them with respect and affection as brothers. All who have been justified by faith in baptism are incorporated into Christ; they therefore have a right to be called Christians, and with good reason are accepted as brothers in the Lord by the children of the Catholic Church.””

You can complain to the Vatican if you disagree.

Man, this is what happens when an earthly organization thinks it has gotten anointed the Boss of Souls on Behalf of God.

Literally, its shit can’t stink. It has defined that possibility away.

I'd better get my odometer checked; for my mileage has varied!

"One indeed is the universal Church of the faithful, outside which no one at all is saved, in which the priest himself is the sacrifice, Jesus Christ, whose body and blood are truly contained in the sacrament of the altar under the species of bread and wine; the bread (changed) into His body by the divine power of transubstantiation, and the wine into the blood, so that to accomplish the mystery of unity we ourselves receive from His (nature) what He Himself received from ours." — Pope Innocent III and Lateran Council IV (A.D. 1215)

Therefore, if anyone says that it is not by the institution of Christ the lord himself (that is to say, by divine law) that blessed Peter should have perpetual successors in the primacy over the whole Church; or that the Roman Pontiff is not the successor of blessed Peter in this primacy: let him be anathema. — Vatican 1, Ses. 4, Cp. 1
