In a stunning reversal, Donald Trump said that he will strengthen the rights of the LGBT community and bring people together. His new stance comes just days after he said that as president, he would “strongly consider” overturning Obergefell vs Hodges, the Supreme Court decision that found that same-sex couples have a legal and constitutional right to marry.
“I’m a lesbian, we’ve had some great progress for the gay and lesbian community,” NECN reporter Sue O’Connell told Trump. When President Trump is in office, can we look for more forward motion on equality for gays and lesbians?” Here is Trump’s response:
“Well, you can. We’re going to bring people together, and that’s your thing, and other people have their thing. We have to bring all people together and if we don’t we’re not going to have a country anymore.”
Now that’s one big flip-flop because in addition to Trump saying he would appoint judges to overturn Obergefell vs Hodges, he has stated in the past time and time again that he only supports marriage between a man and a woman. He has said:
“I’m not in favor of gay marriage. I don’t feel right about marriage equality.”
Trump has even gone as far as to compare same-sex relationships to choosing the wrong kind of golf putter! He said:
“It’s like in golf. A lot of people — I don’t want this to sound trivial — but a lot of people are switching to these really long putters, very unattractive. It’s weird. You see these great players with these really long putters, because they can’t sink three-footers anymore. And, I hate it. I am a traditionalist. I have so many fabulous friends who happen to be gay, but I am a traditionalist.”
In trying to rationalize the irrational, it’s most likely that Trump is pandering to New Hampshire voters for the primary, 67% of whom support gay marriage.
The stories and the story pushers are likely PAC paid.
“I don’t think you’d find anything Trump does odd even if his next wife were a dude.”
So again, WHERE is Cruz’s statement on gays?
I want to know if Trump is wrong, then what does Mr “consistent conservative perfection” say on the matter? Will he order for their mass conversion or simply have them shot on sight?
Because short of that, he is going to say anything different than Trump.
But you conveniently left out the rest of the same sentence and the following sentence. Talk about FALSE posting!!!!
Yeah, and the line on this issue under a "malleable" Trump would eventually shift as well. In fact, he could even use your logic above to explain himself when he shifts:
"You choose your battles carefully. It isn't wise to run around shooting a scatter gun at everything in sight. You only end up taking the focus off of the other segments of your agenda and on to some other group's agenda. Illegal immigration has to be...one of those issues where 'it isn't wise to run around shooting a scatter gun at every' pro-illegal immigration position 'in sight.'

Good point, but we do have to make a choice, and in good conscience I cannot choose Trump because he will make things worse for conservatives, not better. We make our choices based on the best information we have, but after all the dust settles, it’s all in God’s hands. You’ll get no disagreement from me on that.

This whole idea of “malleable” is going to make someone still richer. Just think of all the politicians that Play-Doh could manufacture and let kids AND adults mold them into any shape and size and philosophy they like!

For some reason, I prefer an out gay candidate than a slimy fake one. We have at least one fake hetero on the campaign trail, and one in the WH. To me it’s the worst.
If gay is so great, then be gay. Why fake being straight with your spouse and kids just to get higher up on the political scale? You’re gay, or you like to play? Is that a shameful thing to hide, or is it ok?? Be yourself! Run for office as bi or gay! If it is so great!

It's not about "tradition," and it's not about Trump's personal beliefs. It's about the self-evident laws of nature and nature's God, the principles that make up the footings for the foundations of the American claim to self-government in liberty.

He said nothing whatsoever about “strengthening the rights of the LGBT community.” Before you go into some ill conceived diatribe about New York Values, go back and listen to the tape, then tell me EXACTLY where he used the words “Strengthen the rights of the LGBT Community.”

While the LGBT abomination may be an existential threat regarding YHWH’s wrath, it is not a existential threat from a political perspective. If we don’t “Build a Wall”, stop Muslim migration to this country, get control of our government spending, etc., the LGBT problem will be cured when the Muslim Sharia Government of the United States rounds them all up an chops their heads off!

I just listened to it. The tone is everything and the context.
He was talking about uniting everyone to work on problems.
He said that homosexuals would be treated equally and that he’d try to unite everyone TO WORK ON OUR PROBLEMS.
So, the bottom line is that I could say the same thing.
I’m not in favor of jailing them, taking away their rights, or pretending they are not part of our country.
Do I think their behavior is harmful to themselves and to their partners? Absolutely.
Do I think the same sex can’t be what is meant by the word marriage, married? They cannot be.
Do I think any sub-group should receive privileges? Nope.
Sadly, some folks here are trying to make sure that both are dead and buried by October.
You need a history lesson, friend!!! Please go back and see why Rome, failed, why Egypt failed. why Persia, failed, why Greece failed....because people set off against one another....where is the Pope?, where are thousands of Black Ministers & Pastors who openly support Obama and his destruction of the American nation?
