WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Fresh from an endorsement by New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump on Saturday accelerated his political slugfest with opponent Marco Rubio, just days before the delegate-rich Super Tuesday contests.
With dueling appearances in Arkansas and Georgia, the billionaire businessman and U.S. senator from Florida continued an onslaught of personal insults that began on a debate stage on Thursday and looks likely to go on for months.
"The majority of Republican voters do not want Donald Trump to be our nominee, and ... they are going to support whoever is left standing that is fighting against him to ensure that we do not nominate a con artist," Rubio told reporters in Georgia.
Trump, speaking in front of his private plane in Arkansas, along with Christie, whose endorsement on Friday shocked Republican leaders anxious about his likelihood of winning the nomination, belittled Rubio and accused him of being fresh.
"I watched this lightweight Rubio, total lightweight, little mouth on him, 'bing, bing, bing' ... and his new attack is he calls me a con artist," Trump said. "The last thing I am is a con man." Tower Air was formed on August 13, 1982 by Zev Melamid, Mordechi Gill, Morris Nachtomi, and Sam Fondlier as equal shareholders.
yes, I saw that..it’s a charter company.
All I can think is that Trump chartered the planes.
There are a lot of holes in that story. I was there with the First Infantry Division, the Big Red One out of Fort Riley. I deployed in December 1990, after our train up, and redeployed in May 1991. The part about a battalion sitting around all day on duffel bags for four days waiting for buses is fantasy (or a really selective memory). Redeployment took time because we had a lot of troops over there, not because no one had thought to charter aircraft. By the way politicians don’t do that, once DOD gets the mission it plans all phases of the operation. Units, including this guys battalion were billeted in Khobar Towers, when they were scheduled to move out to the airfield they would go to a staging area and get moved to the airfield in a couple of hours. The idea that people sat out for four days with their gear is preposterous. Regarding Trump chartering aircraft from Tower Air, again B.S. Tower Air was the charter air line used by the Army throughout the later Cold War to move troops to and from Europe on REFORGERS and the Middle East on Bright Star, etc. They were contracted by the government for all of those operations including Desert Shielf/Storm. The idea that Trump or any other private individual paid out of pocket to do this is ridiculous. I was a fairly senior officer during Desert Storm and I would know if this happened. There’s a lot of stuff posted on some websites, often to accomplish an agenda. It’s not always true. It bothers me that people would make stuff up that makes the leadership of the military look incompetent in order to make any politician look good.
At least you won’t be taking anyone’s parking spot at the polls in November.
Thanks for posting - I have never heard or read that story before!
By “sundance,” known Clinton/Trump hack. There is no evidence that this story is true.
Thanks for the info. I asked the person who originally posted it where the story came from but have not heard back yet.
here are a couple of replies that I got regarding the source of the story:
Howard Rubenstein, another New Yorker represents both Tower Air and Donald Trump. That may be the connection. Trump is certainly capable of using that contact to get those planes to take our boys out of Saudi Arabia.

I dont really have a dog in this race (Im not a US citizen). I just wanted some accuracy. The original post says Tower Air was owned by Donald Trump. It wasnt. The most likely explanation (implying no bad faith o the part of the author of the original story) is that he asked someone who owned the airline, was told (inaccurately) that it was Donald Trump and passed the information on after 25 years.
I will go an vote for conservative office holders for other positions and for other ballot measures. I will either skip the presidential slot or write in someone.
Dump Trump Tuesday!
The DC Uni-Party and Hitlery thank you!
Rubio conned the voters in Florida with his false amnesty stand. This totally empty suit is the conman in the race along with Hillary.
