Why I told Cavuto yesterday that #NeverTrump is absolutely insane
Canada Free Press ^ | 03/03/16 | Herman Cain

Not listening, as usual

You wouldn’t think you’d be inviting mass condemnation simply because you make the simple statement that Republicans should support whoever is the Republican nominee in the general election. That’s about as boilerplate a political position as you’re going to hear anywhere. Yet I saw yesterday that I was trending all over social media because I said on Cavuto (and again later on Hannity) that it’s absolutely insane for Republicans to try to sabotage Donald Trump, when there is every reason to believe he could end up the Republican nominee.

The Republican Party establishment, which is now in such a panic over Trump’s candidacy, needs to understand one of the reasons Trump is doing so well is that Trump voters don’t feel the Republican establishment listens to them. And by trying to sabotage Trump, they are once again not listening to these folks.

Same party that ran Herman Cain (another outsider) out of the race.

Primary movers behind #NeverTrump are Social Conservative

Ronald Reagan has words for the Soc Cons.

“A man who is 75-80% on my side is a valued Friend and Ally, not my enemy”.

Curious Social Conservative,

What in the last 40 years have any GOP President done to stop the ever increasing number of Abortions?

I know this falls on deaf ears at with 100%ers but the fact remains, We are a Constitutional Republic that rests on the notion that the people’s Representatives in Government know how to compromise and negotiate. Your champion Cruz’s record demonstrates a total inability to actually govern anything.

This notion that Cruz will ride into DC and dictate his 100%er terms to everyone else there is simply wishful thinking.

Really think Clinton, “Cult of Sanger and Abortion”, is going to REDUCE the number of abortions or is she going to do things that will massively increase them?

This “Never Trump” meme is the behavior of petulant children looking to spite everyone because 100% of their desires were not granted. It has nothing at all to do with anything resembling principals or reason.

That's pretty much where I'm at these days. If nothing else, the Obama years have exposed the GOP as the frauds that they are. They never fight for anything, are never prepared for any situation, and always have a lame excuse at the ready. They clearly can't be trusted to do the right thing.

What amuses me is that here is a guy who comes along saying “I’ll defund Planned Parenthood” and people want to kick him to the curb because he praises some of the things Planned Parenthood has done in the same sentence.

Trump introduces the possibility of bringing a lot of people who would normally be against defunding Planned Parenthood on board for his plans and so-called ‘conservatives’ can’t deal with the words he uses while doing that.

What exactly have the people who condemn Planned Parenthood done to defund them? Absolutely nothing.

It makes me wonder if such ‘conservatives’ actually have a desire to change anything. Maybe they’d just rather have smoke blown up their rear ends.

I wonder if this had anything to do with what happened when NR lumped Rupert Murdoch and Fox News in going after ‘anyone but Trump’ and lost 50% of their viewers?

I don’t trust Murdoch, or anyone on Fox so I don’t watch, can’t anyway, I don’t have cable...

We need to keep up turning Fox off, along with Levin, Rush and Hannity....

It’s probably been that way since the late 80’s now that all of this inner-fighting seems to be getting even more vile.

They hated Buchanan too in the 90’s.

The Republican leadership is neither Republican nor Democrat, they are self serving plutocrats. They don’t represent conservatives or liberals, they represent themselves only.

If Trump becomes President he becomes head of the Republican Party, a party that has not served the interests of their base - conservatives. They have failed miserably at stopping Obama, hell, they haven’t even tried in most instances.

As party head, Trump has a responsibility to clean house in the party of the incompetents & failures, something that should have been done after the Romney failure of 2012. I believe he will do so, as does the party leadership. They are fighting hard to keep their power, influence, & high paying jobs, not to further the cause of conservatism.

It is as simple as this: If HRC wins in November, the GOPe keep their jobs. Same if Rubio, Cruz, or Kasish wins in November. But if Trump wins, the GOPe is out of jobs, power, influence, limos, big paychecks, & the pockets of taxpayers. Naturally, they are fighting a Trump Presidency tooth & nail. They will lie, cheat, steal, & maybe murder to stop him.

They TALK.

They talk and talk. They say what the conservative base *wants* to hear, then they do what the hell they want to do.

WE ARE THE BLACKS OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY.

“We’ve got their votes locked in because they’ve got nowhere else to go...”

I’m jumping off their plantation.

it the same crap the party leader have been pulling for years on the base... the base must support the leaders but the leader never support the base....see my tag line

Trump can't fire congressmen. Trump can campaign *against* them when they run for re-election if he wants, but has zero say in congressional leadership or even committee chairs. The voters have *everything* to do with whether congress keeps their jobs. Looking back as far as I can see, it's the *voters* who consistently, like clock-work, re-elect these deplorable chronic capitulators election after election after election (see McConnell, Graham, McCain, etc).

Quite the contrary, the only leverage trump will have against congress may be a voter mandate, which congress can ignore with impunity -- unless they somehow, suddenly become the least bit concerned about their approval ratings. Trump will have to find something congress wants badly enough that he can trade in exchange for the things he wants badly, like his signature illegal immigration policy.

The gazillion dollar question that no one can answer is: What further infringement on the precious little that remains of our liberties is trump willing to trade to a recalcitrant congress in order to advance his agenda? (Yeah, it's a rhetorical question - we can only guess).

As head of the party Trump controls to whom the money flows. That has a big effect on Congress. Congress was neutered by Obama. Trump can easily do the same.

No, Trump cannot fire Congressmen, but he can fire the entire leadership of the party & replace them with his own people. He can fire all those friends, family, & cronies of the Congressmen in the government & in the party.

If Trump wins the Pub nomination, many of the Pub Congress critters up for election are gonna want his endorsement & the votes of his supporters. Thousands of political appointments in government are to be doled out by the new President. The nominee & eventual President carries enormous weight with the voters, & Obama has repeatedly shown a President can get his way despite a hostile Congress.

Trump doesn’t need Congress to enforce the existing immigration laws, which Presidents have ignored for decades. These laws have always been sufficient to stop illegal immigrants & send them back home, if they are enforced. Border agents routinely complain they are not allowed to do their jobs by their politically appointed superiors. If he chooses to withhold funds from sanctuary cities, who can force him to release the funds? No one. Congress proposes but the President disposes, or not.

As for trading away our liberties, the GOP leadership seems in lockstep with the Democrats in expanding government tyranny. While Trump is a bit of a question mark, it is a sure thing that if Rubio, Kasich, or Cruz becomes President, the rich power brokers will be back in business expanding government, immigration, the debt, taxes, & intrusion into private citizens lives, as they have for decades.
