There’s no reason our Reps have to be in Washington so much with modern technology, they should have an office close to their constituents and do their business by telecommuting and voting from their home offices.

YES...I’ve said that for years...with technology there’s no reason our “representatives can’t be HOME except for a couple times a year, maybe. Lobbyists would freak.

Exactly. The ONLY reason our representatives run off to Washington like it’s 1789 or something is to get away from their home folks, provide the DC bars and hookers some revenue, and pad their expense accounts.

Hearings can be done via teleconference, votes also. Perhaps they could all get together once a year for the State of the Union or something. Like all facets of the federal government, Congress is COMPLETELY antiquated.

Which works very much to the benefit of the dishonest.

That would save some serious dollars.

You obviously have no problem with your representatives electronic “Yea” being occasionally changed to “Nay” (or vice-versa) by the time it is counted because that will happen if remote electronic voting is used. No encryption system is un-crackable. Then you add the issue wherein your rep says I did not vote that way and they say “prove it”. That then devolves into ‘he said - they said’ with nothing being resolved other than the vote tally at DC being used to carry the day.

It is best that our reps vote in person. It may cost a little (truly a pittance compared to a trilion dollar budget) more but our republic deserves it.
