PRESIDENT TRUMP SHOULD MOVE THE CAPITOL

Posted on 03/28/2016 8:50:42 PM PDT by DIRTYSECRET

Anyone wanting to stay in government can move. The political class will get cut off at the knees. Trump is a builder. It will get done cheap. Government will get smaller and all the establishment types-both gop & the rats-will get hit hard. That's what this country needs and this is the best way to do it. That's what they are all scared of.

2. Senators to their home state capital.
3. SCOTUS in Washington.
4. President in Washington.
5. 40-hour work week.
6. Same benefits as “we the people.”
7. One subject legislative bills; no pork, no add-ons.
8. Defund and do away with EPA, Interior, Parks and Recreation, DHS, BLM, etc.
9. No czars.
10. Meet-and-greet with “the home state folks” one day a week.
11. Vote electronically.
12. Any pay raise to be voted on by “we the people.”

No matter where they moved it the press and lobbyists would follow. Soon you would have the equivalent of DC in Kansas or Nebraska. The only way to get rid of it is to send them all home to their districts. There is absolutely no reason they have to be in DC with technology.

Because the Constitution grants the POTUS the power to define where the capitol is located?

Leave it in place but return it to swampland. And ban use of air conditioning there between May and September. And for good measure, allow federally employed residents to vacation only during the winter months. Do those things and I figure various fevers could clean the place out within an election cycle or two.

That or Fargo. Let them be in the lower 48 BUT harsh winters be part of the ‘package’.

It has been suggested for the Reps in their home districts but more than a few would probably have to buy a house or quit renting theirs out.

UN should be offered the same deal BUT we pay to relocate it to say Siberia.

Again, the sparser the better, get more ‘work’ done that way.

Congress critters should be in home district, maybe ONE trip a year - paid by the taxpayers and put up in hotels for their stay then fly them back home.

Works for the State Legislators.

I also believe that the salary should be a flat 2, 3 or 5 mill (whatever decided upon) which pays for EVERYTHING.
Hire your mother, father, grandmother or do the work yourself, whoever gets paid comes out of YOUR PAY - including ALL expenses - ...

Will take a couple of years but at last the idiots that make a career out of ‘serving us’ (HA HA) will actually be serving us, not themselves.

DC should be a city of Reps, Senators, the POTUS and VPOTUS, embassies, museums, national monuments, and hotels -- and no more talk about how residents don't have representation as if they had a gun to their heads to live there in the first place. 535 housing units for the Congress -- and they'd be required to live in one while in session, making it easier to maintain their legal residence back home -- would be easier to keep everyone safe.

The lawmakers pretty much live in barracks and eat in cafeterias.

One big ole trailer park ought to do it. Locating in tornado country would be a bonus.

That is true, the only way that can start to be accomplished is they lose their power, then money to buy that power with our tax dollars.

You obviously have no problem with your representatives electronic “Yea” being occasionally changed to “Nay” (or vice-versa) by the time it is counted because that will happen if remote electronic voting is used. No encryption system is un-crackable. Then you add the issue wherein your rep says I did not vote that way and they say “prove it”. That then devolves into ‘he said - they said’ with nothing being resolved other than the vote tally at DC being used to carry the day.

It is best that our reps vote in person. It may cost a little (truly a pittance compared to a trilion dollar budget) more but our republic deserves it.

The Brazilians moved their capital to the geographic center of the country. We should do the same, which would be northern Kansas, I think.

I thank you all. It struck a nerve. Would it happen? Battle lines would be drawn. Detroit has plenty of available office space.

A president has that kind of power? By executive order or what? amazing the things that Freepers will support a president doing, unilaterally.
