An enormous fire erupted an ExxonMobil refinery in Texas on Thursday. The Baytown refinery caught fire, leading to huge black plumes of smoke into the air, visible from downtown Houston.
Almost as soon as the fire in the ExxonMobil refinery was extinguished, we got reports of a fire in a refinery belonging to LyondellBasell Industries. CNBC reported that the fire occured in the coker unit of the refinery that can process over 263.000 barrels per day.

well, that’s a nice graphic, and I guess it makes you look like the instructor of the class
but it really doesn’t relate to my comment
but, by all means, carry on professor
I would expect Houston, Baytown, Deer Park to have similar requirements.
Yes they do and a few years back, quite a few contractors that had been working at Exxon/mobile for years, were forced out of their jobs because of those background checks.
Then in plain English...your 'knee jerk reaction' to "rising gas prices" due to a coker fire shows your ignorance (lack of knowledge) of the petroleum distillation process. A coker unit fire has little to no effect whatsoever on gas prices.
Just thought you should know so you don't continue down that road.
Thanks for posting Great oil product tree.
Ideal to use for giant signs in which to beat Sierra club, green-hippy, enviro-whackos at Earth day.
On the bright side, it opens up good jobs for others without criminal histories.
Most people simply don’t know how widely petroleum products are used.
Well then, I thank you
your graphic was a little too intense for an old guy who was cleaning gutters and skylight windows all day.
sorry, my body hurts, and after 3 beers I’m a little fluid
thanks for lookin out for me
That’s valid phil, however we’ve known that our fearless leader(s) will use any incident to change the game. At least that’s been my observation. It may just make for an easy ‘reason’. But hell, what do I know, I only live here and observe the games played.
Even though that had nothing to do with an oil refinery?
This incendiary drone terrorism is a Huge national security threat to carry out events today’s oil refinery fire.
FCC drone registration won’t stop jhiadists from carrying out a devastating coordinated event.
Read somewhere that are a few companies making drone radio frequency jammer for sensitive locations.

RE: “Next up will be the completely unexpected (but totally predictable) fire/crisis at a California refinery.”
KEWL!
....and these refineries are about 30 miles apart. Strange.
Kewl picture
A Syrian refujihadist is guaran-damn-teed to pass a background check.
He hasn’t been here long enough to commit, be arrested for, and convicted of any felony.
His fellow jihadists back home will vouch for him under the doctrine of al taqiyyah.
The tatters of their government will have no record of crimes under the name he gave INS.
The UN will have issued him a perfectly valid refugee passport.
The obama administration will have blessed him as a wonderful person and issued him a perfectly valid visa and work permit.
And anyone who refuses to hire him will be prosecuted for labor law violations to the fullest extent of the law.
No need to worry...
Two fires. No, nothing to see. Move along. Definitely not intentional. Most definitely not terrorist.
LOL! This old guys yard day is tomorrow and probably part of Sunday. Today was my one day off from any work this week.
I worry every day at work and that worry has kept me and others alive for decades while we worked. Refineries and chemical plants are dangerous places every day so jihadists aren't shit for me.
my advice... take the Tylenol BEFORE you start (I really should listen to my wife more often)
I still have a boat dock to pull out of the water to get welded, but I don’t know I’ll get it done this weekend now, I’m already aching like hell, so I’m afraid what I’ll feel like after I lie down for a few hours, but my son is coming up on Sunday with the grandkids so I want to get it done by then. (I think I can.. I think I can..)
Best of luck to you, sucks getting middle aged like me... (I hit 70 in August!)
