Sorority Cancels Kentucky Derby–Themed Party over Concerns of ‘Racism’

The Kappa Delta Epsilon sorority at Dartmouth College has canceled its annual Kentucky Derby–themed party after people complained that the theme was racist. The invite-only party will now be Woodstock-themed instead.
According to an article in the Daily Caller, the Kentucky Derby theme had created controversy on campus last year — even causing some students to protest outside of it on the grounds that it was apparently a racist and elitist theme.
Sorority vice president Nikol Oydanich told the school’s official newspaper, the Dartmouth, that these protesters had convinced the sorority members to change the theme. “[It is] related to pre-war southern culture,” she said. “Derby was a party that had the power to upset a lot of our classmates.”

Why don’t they just turn loose the states south of the Mason-Dixon Line. After all, those states are tainted by slavery till the end of the universe.

I remember when colleges used to compete in sports like basketball and football. Now they compete in political correctness.
Derby parties in the real South (not Dartmouth, for God's sake) are characterized by upscale summer dress and the wearing of fanciful hats. Mint juleps and tomato or cucumber tea sandwiches are required, although other foods can supplement. An abundance of liquor is also a must. It's when people pretend to be "high class" and get drunk as lords.
Derby parties have absolutely nothing to do with the Civil War or slavery or anything at all related to the history of anything that matters.
Beyond ridiculous. Especially since no one expressed offense about the parties. The sorority chicks probably figured that it was a prefect opportunity for them to practice some “virtue signaling” to progs nationwide to establish their PC creds.
White kids better grow some ######s and quick.

These are not college students, they’re socialist indoctrinated H.S. grads, which were re-programmed children from pre-school ... because the parents are socialist indoctrinated grads from the same H.S.

I’m offended by liberal Woodstock hippies and demand a safe space against this microagression.
And most Woodstock hippies were white so this is obviously racist.
The black couple in our neighborhood has a Derby Day party for the entire neighborhood every year.
What the protesters are doing in this instance is to make certain the Derby is exclusively white only. Many blacks weren’t aware of their so-called exclusion. They now have their marching orders. All horse racing or other southern tradition or pastime is now “racist.”
