Yep.
Obama playing war games in an attempt to boost establishment candidates.

Not that it would make a difference. Establishment got us in to this mess.

Where in the heck was Naval Air the whole time to chase away the Russian aircraft? I find it hard to believe that a US Navy destroyer was wandering around in the Baltic by itself.
The Navy abandoned the safety in numbers policy back in the Clinton years. USS COLE was over a day or more out from the nearest USN ship. The nearest Naval air fire power to respond to the Russians are land based likely in Sicily.

Isn't Poland a NATO ally? Could the Captain not have contacted the nearest Polish Airbase and requested the Polish Airforce fly top cover?

I suspect that the Poles did not chase these Russians away from our destroyer because they were not asked, not because they could not.

Norfolk hosting five carriers is like Pearl Harbor circa 1941

Glad I wasn’t the only one who thought that.

“The scariest part is what do you think the condition of our Nuclear arsenal?”

One hopes the vast majority of the weapons would function if needed. A lot of money is spent ensuring that’s the case - of course they are never actually tested these days...

Of more concern is the fact that the United States can’t currently produce new plutonium pits, which is the most critical piece of any nuclear weapon. Meanwhile, both Russia and China can, and both are busily fielding new nuclear delivery systems while the US sits idle and 0bama preaches about his “nuclear free world” fantasy.

Instead, the actual facts are that nuclear weapons are a critical part of the national defense, and in fact have been the strongest force for world peace in the history of mankind.

Much of what 0bama does seems to be sowing the seeds for the Four Horsemen a bit further down the road.

Allow me to second your suggestion of Archive.org—it is an excellent resource and time machine as well...

We don’t have a CIC we have an azzhole who’s scared shxtless to anything about everything. There’s very “Leaders” in the military anymore either. They’re managers for a failed socially engineered experiment.

There’s still some damned good people left in the military but their ranks are shrinking very fast.

this is really not terrible...
I was in the navy under carter...
not only could we not maintain our aircraft, we could not even put fuel in them...

as for the flyby, hell the Russians not only did this all the time, they would sail their ships within a couple of hundred feet from the carrier. we used to moon the Russians and flip them off and they would do it right back to us!!!!

we survived carter and we will survive fubo...

That might work, depending on where in the Black Sea this incident took place, its a big body of water. A quick glance at a map also illustrates the importance of Crimea in terms of power projection in the area. Any aircraft flying from Poland would be subject to interception by Crimea based aircraft.

You also assume that:

1. Communication existed between the USN ship and the Polish military.

2. The USN is allowed to ask the Poles for help.

3. The CIC wanted reinforcements to arrive.

There have been too many instances of US military humiliation recently and one wonders why these ships are placed in harm's way with no support in the air or at sea. Who is in charge and what are his aims?

“Chief of Naval Operations, but he can’t hide the Navy’s incompetence and cowardice from the enemies of this nation.”............

Sir, you are an idiot if you believe our Navy is incompetent and cowards. The problem is that our military people have been hogtied by the Chief “incompetent and coward” of all time, odumbo. You turn our people loose and let them fight you will sing a totally different tune.

Surprised that no one has mentioned the Navy brass’ overwhelming desire to have as many F-35’s as possible even though it means financially shorting every other area of operations.

“A fish rots from the head on down”

Yep! It was brought home to me a couple years ago. While on a job in mainland China a Chinese man walked up to me, stared in my face, asked if I was American. After I said yes he said “Obama weak man, Obama pussy!

I don’t understand why the destroyer did not turn on its close in weapons systems radars & scare the crap out of the Russian pilots. If the Russians can practice attacks on our war ships, then why don’t our war ships respond in a like manner, turning on defensive radars & readying SAMs on board.

This should ALWAYS be done when an unknown aircraft approaches our warships in a threatening, warlike manner. Our warships & crews are too valuable to assume a threat is not a threat until too late.

I would tell Russia that if they want to risk losing their aircraft, try this stunt again. We will post the video of their warplane & pilot being shredded by our CIWS on Obama’s Facebook account.

"I don’t understand why the destroyer did not turn on its close in weapons systems radars & scare the crap out of the Russian pilots."

I wondered this also. Probably contrary to their ROE. Good strategy, send a lone warship without air cover into Russia's private lake, tell them they have to stand down no matter what happens and...see what happens. Sounds like something Obama and Kerry would do.

With all the security leaks the Russians probably know the USN's ROE in this circumstance before the orders are issued.

We are broke.

The US is a rust bucket. While this is partially Obama’s fault, there have been plenty of Republicans playing along.

Yet another part of Clown Prince nobama’s plan to “transform” America is working as planned. How nice, no? Thank LIBs/DIMs and their pals, the enabling GOP-e for this. Traitors all.
