Trump campaign chief: Donald Trump is playing "a part"

His general-election appeal in question, Donald Trump's senior team is promising anxious Republicans that voters will see "a real different guy" soon after the GOP front-runner claims his party's presidential nomination.

"When he's out on the stage, when he's talking about the kinds of things he's talking about on the stump, he's projecting an image that's for that purpose," Paul Manafort, who is leading Trump's primary election strategy, told Republican National Committee members in a private briefing late Thursday. The Associated Press obtained a recording of the discussion.

"You'll start to see more depth of the person, the real person. You'll see a real different guy," Manafort said.

"He gets it," Manafort said of Trump's need to moderate his brash personality. "The part that he's been playing is evolving into the part that now you've been expecting, but he wasn't ready for, because he had first to complete the first phase. The negatives will come down. The image is going to change."

Trump did EVENTUALLY get control over the apartments - long after he made it. The salary that he got for mostly being in charge wasn’t of the kind that makes one a billionaire.

Housing in NYC SUCKS! Ever hear of rent control? That’s what Trump’s father had to deal with for decades, and Trump decided NOT to do that - but to be mostly involved with non-controlled commercial real estate.

I never said that he didn’t have a leg up - after all, having a $1 million loan in the late 1960s is like a $5 million loan now...I don’t know about you, but my father never did that for me. But SO WHAT? $1 million wasn’t turned into $1+ billion by unicorn farts and pixie dust - Trump entered into partnerships on several risky deals and made them into a success. Luck played a part, to be sure, but being ready, willing and able to take part in deals in a particular place at a particular time isn’t just luck, it is hard-work and risk-taking. No one handed Trump billions, he made the vast majority of it himself.

Oh, and I don’t worship him any more than I worship any other fallible human being...nor do I believe that you worship the equally fallible Cruz or Kasich. Let’s try getting above that kind of petty and childish “argument.”

Once you get this stuff right, then we can talk about the rest.

FISCAL Conservative!

Someone who believes that Social Security and Medicare do not need to be reformed is not a fiscal conservative. Someone who believes in the "soak the rich" class warfare tax policies of the left is not a fiscal conservative.

Military & Veterans Conservative!

Someone who would order our military to kill the families of terrorists in violation of international law is not a military conservative.

America for Americans Conservative!

Someone who brings in hundreds of foreign workers a year to fill jobs that American workers have already applied for is not an "America for Americans Conservative".

Makes up all the stories you like Cruz does! Are you so jealous of success?

LOL! The words all seem to be in English, but they don't come together to form anything like a coherent thought.

What is your native tongue, and did you enter this great country legally?

You sound like a sad, jealous person who loves to throw out insults. I may not correct spelling well at times but that hardly is reason to insult me even if you consider yourself perfect.

Other than lies or insults you seem to have little to add to a conversation. BTW all of my ancestors back to the early 1800 were born on US soil unlike Cruz. How about you?

I’ve said from the beginning that Trump’s brash demeanor is part of his negotiating strategy in this primary, and that the brashness will decrease when it comes down to closing the deal. My evidence has been the times his perceived enemies, such as the hispanic Chamber of Commerce CEO, have come out of private meetings with Trump, saying that he is attentive, courteous, and quick of mind.
