There are many sources of electricity, not all involving carbon. Hydro, nuclear, solar, etc. Yes coal is the primary source in this country, but not exclusive. Insofar as carbon is burned for energy, it can be done in large specialized systems far more efficiently and with far more effective pollution controls. You have options, including personally owned sources like solar, or gas/propane generators.
Gas cars, however, by definition are exclusively carbon burning, and rather inefficiently at that.
I have to stifle my laugh when you mention solar, but OK, nuclear and hydro, but they have their problems as well.
How many years is it going to take to ramp up and produce 400,000 vehicles?
Yes they all have issues. Point is they give you options.
