Excellent: Target stock has lost $1.5 billion in value since letting men in the ladies’ room

The price of arrogance.

Ordinarily I would not root for any business to fail, even one of my own competitors. But when a major corporation tells the vast majority of its customers “f*** you” in order to appease radical social activists, it would really be a shame if those insulted customers just kept shopping there and made the corporation pay no price for its arrogance. The early returns suggest Target customers are doing no such thing.

Breitbart reports that Target stock has fallen $2.65 per share since the infamous announcement that Target will let confused men into its ladies’ restrooms and dressing rooms, which amounts to an overall reduction of $1.5 billion in the value of the company’s stock. I doubt that’s a direct result of any revenue drop caused by people boycotting Target, even though 1 million people have signed online petitions saying they intend to do so. Boycotts are never effective for long because after awhile people’s anger subsides and they return to their normal day-to-day habits.

There’s one pretty close to my house. I almost never go there.

The Target store by me was closed a few months ago and they have been tearing down the building.

Target has been in trouble long before their bathroom policy went into effect. You can't find a parking space at Walmart yet Targets are shutting down and I'm pretty sure Walmart doesn't care who uses what restroom.

Guess Target only wants to cater to a targeted customer base of pervs and sympathizers. Bad luck with that...dummies...

Of course, it should be interesting to discover whether stock value is a language this soulless corporation actually understands.

The Target store in the neighborhood where I grew up (and where I worked while in college) just closed for good two months ago. Target had been in that location for at least 23 years.

Same with my local Super Target. Had nothing to do with who used the restrooms.

Proper analysis compares Target stocks to other options investors had.

On April 28, 2016,
the S&P Consumer Staples Index (0.02%)
slightly outperformed the S&P 500 Index (-0.92%)
the S&P Consumer Discretionary Index (-1.1%)

the S&P 500 stocks have a monthly return of 6.6%,
which is much higher than the
S&P Consumer Discretionary Index 6.5%
S&P Consumer Staples Index 4.3%

The past plunge of Kmart and JCPenney can be directly attributed to boycotts by Traditional values customers.

But Montgomery Ward’s failure and struggles of Sears and Radio Shack are simply due to bad management. In the case of Sears bad home office middle management in Hoffman Estates IL.

If Traditional Values voices boycott Starbucks, Ben&Jerry or Abercromie & Fitch their sales from loyal anti-traditionalists actually go up.

The Left’s anti-immigrant/anti-grape pickers boycott of the ‘60s is by far the most unsuccessful boycott ever.

Boycotts must be very selective to be effective.

I agree with frequenting local establishments, if/when possible. I also never understood the appeal of Starbucks; there are always a couple of local coffee shops that are better options.

Make them hurt in the pocketbook.

They cant virtue signal if they are too busy closing stores.

They have yet to recover from the Canadian store debacle, so this will squeeze them.

Don't bet on that. It's been 14 years since I've tasted Sam Adams beer, and I don't plan on touching the stuff again, ever.

(Google "Sam Adams St. Patricks" if you wonder why.)

pandering to the filthy 1% is NEVER good for the bottom line.

It's not even one percent. Maybe .0001% The pandering is actually done to kneejerk (emphasis on jerk) liberals who champion the "rights" of mentally defective people.

The petition is near 1.1 M.

Multiply that by 10.

Exactly! I know people like me that haven’t signed a petition but are boycotting Target.

For anyone who doesn’t know:

Target is the company formerly known as “Daytons” or the Dayton Hudson Company, started by the great-grandfather of Mark Dayton, former US Senator and current Governor of Minnesota. Dayton’s entire career embraces every stuipic democrat socialist regime and idea to come down the pike and he considers signing the fag marriage bill his greatest achievement as Governor.

Just so’s you know. Same state that elected Jesse Ventura governor and put Stuart Smalley in the US Senate.

OK then.

It has “stupid Management decision Makers”....who in their right mind changes the normal rules for 1 dumb ass out or 10,000 people who spend money. Gays or half gays don’t shop at Targets anyway. Sold my stock way back when Target kicked out the Salvation Army bell ringers.....Stupid CEO and CFO.

I am just wondering who the individual with a problem is who pushed his/her agenda above the interests of the shareholders.

Let’s not forget where Target has its corporate offices located— Minneapolis, MN,-— another LIEberal utopia of a city.

There is such a thing as a hermaphrodite (both female and male genitals). I feel badly for those people as I would for any deformity. There are also very very rare men/women whose brain wiring think opposite of their birth sex.

<pThat said, I’m completely disgusted with Target and others who insist on such a tiny minority insisting on using girl’s and women’s bathrooms or vice versus. BTW, someone please tell me what the Q in LBGTQ stands for that I keep seeing. What - questionable? Guess I missed the rainbow memo.

What does ‘being in trouble before’ have anything to do with this issue?
