I think announcing his VP and major Cabinet positions soon would be a great idea. I especially hope he rewards Carson and Christie for their loyalty (but not with the VP position). He knows he can rely on them, and Carson should help with the Cruz voters, while Christie should help with the establishment. He should try to win over as many of both these groups as reasonably possible, as well as patriotic, hard-working, moderate Dems and fed-up Indies. With the unfavorable electoral map and the Clinton machine, he needs all the types of support he can muster while staying true to his core positions.
I hadn’t thought of Rudy for DHS before, but that makes so much sense. As far as VP goes, I wonder if Rep. Duncan Hunter, Jr. (who endorsed him a long time ago) would be too obscure, or if he needs someone with a bigger marquis name. Considering Trump will be 70 at the time of the election, having a youthful Iraq & Afghanistan vet on the ticket would be a good contrast, and he would reinforce the illegals/border issue.
Ben’s a good guy. A few weeks ago when Ben endorsed Trump he said Trump promised him a role in Trump’s administration. Now Trump is carrying through with his promise. I expect Trump will also utilize Ben’s talents in the future as well.
I’d like to see Allen West.
Military background, would take care of our vets, knows how the government works, and could help with minority voters. And he comes across from what I’ve seen and heard, as a very bright individual.
I’m not sure if he has any downsides, I’m relatively new to following VP picks and how all that translates to votes, but I like Allen West.
you are not alone.
I have to admit, I'm a bit puzzled as to how the body can maintain life processes if the material filling the skull is actually rocks, not brains. Perhaps you meant "figuratively" rather than "literally"?
Same here.
Sorry, no. If we've learned one thing about Trump so far is that he's a master of the media news cycle. The VP selection is a drama he'll play out for maximum effect, reaching a crescendo only just before the convention.
As for cabinet, again those rumors will swirl for effect but you're not going to see any actual announcements until after he's officially President-elect.
Adding the name Jim DeMint to the list for discussion.
DeMint is a non-starter because, although he would be a good VP, he would not add any appreciable electoral strength to the ticket. Due to immigration and demographic changes, the Democratic Party’s inherent national strength is such that Trump’s VP choice has to be dictated by electoral considerations.
Yipee more books he can sell
“To help him with the latter, Trump told the New York Times that Ben Carson will serve on a selection committee to find his running mate.”
A political outsider helping a political outsider choose a vp running mate to change the destruction to the republic brought about by politicians. How GRRRRRRRREAT is that?
HOORAY Trump
HOORAY Carson
All aboard citizens

I think you're definitely wrong on Christie and Cruz. Nothing in Christie's background lends him to Secretary of State. Cruz doesn't want to be on the Supreme Court. And I don't see a spot for Giuliani. He's been out of government for too long and has given no indication he wants back in. Surgeon General is not a cabinet post and I don't see Carson wanting a mundane position like that anyway. Unless he thinks he looks good in uniform.
Duncan Hunter Jr. My pick.
There is no other explanation. Nobody is that dumb otherwise. I will grant you the grammatical error however. Let me put it this way. The rocks in my yard have more gray matter than they do.
If Ben is on the committee, can he recommend himself or not?
