Again Mr. Brilliant, all he said that he had to be treated FAIRLY, and he also followed, that he was, at that time, not being treated fairly, but never said that his desire was to go 3rd party.

“and then observed that the RNC’s actions (or lack thereof, I suppose) in the Saturday debate demonstrated that the RNC was in violation of the “loyalty pledge” they required Trump to sign. Trump then announced he was considering breaking his own half of the pledge, an obvious allusion to a potential third party run.

Alluding to, and outright stating are two different animals.

His voter registration states that he is. He has all but sown up the Republican nomination by delegate numbers and he ran in the Republican primaries, and won.

He is a Republican.

Period.

Be patient. Be magnanimous.

A lot of these folks are codependent. A beaten wife will often go full berserker to protect the same husband who put her in the hospital two weeks previous.

Give it to say the eve of the convention. Then it’s time to separate the lambs from the goats.

That has been my prognostication as to the result of the Democratic National Convention since Hillary had her last stroke.

No shenanigans needed, all the Democrats need to do is keep an open bar stocked with fine liqueur after each of her campaign stops and she will drink herself into a nursing home.

Really, that is all you have to say? I think he is. He may not be your idea of a Republican, but he is mine. What makes your opinion better than mine?

I agree, there is a grieving period required here. At least for real people. Most of us said we would never vote for Romney. But when we looked back at Obama we really found ourselves arguing for and then backing Romney. We wanted someone else. But he was easily better than the alternative.

But thats only part of the problem. Then there are the Barry Dillers and the WSJ and people like that. These people want to be paid off for their support. On the other side, there are the defense contractors and other government vendors. These people want to buy Trump’s loyalty. These people will come into line sooner or later when they feel that Trump can deal or be dealt with.

Trump does not actually need either group. But he will probably soft talk them to stop them from supporting Hillary. However this is the really nice part about Trump. He does not need their money. It would be nice. But the efficacy of ad money has disappeared. People don’t believe the media and we certainly aren’t watching the political ads.

If Trump were wise he would buy some national ads now. And run them all summer long except during the Olympics. Introduce himself as a candidate. Say what he is fighting against and what he is fighting for. Don’t mention Hillary. Just make sure you mention that you are fighting against politicians who are for sale. Politicians that ask for your vote but care about their own career and not your job. He should win easily.

It’s politics and a hard fought bitter primary. Give it time. Some of the same people that said they would never again support the lesser of evils or RINOs and that we need a 3rd party etc etc — now insist trashed Cruz supporters suck it up and get behind their candidate. I don’t necessarily disagree that that should happen but the hypocrisy is stunning. It will sort itself out one way or another ... or not.

Trump didn’t create all the divisions.

He lifted up issues that have been priority for many people and refused to put them on the back seat.

The biggest conflicts within the Republican side bar none is closing the border and dealing as forcefully as needed with aliens who are not supposed to be here.

The #Nevertrump crowd on this forum all have this issue or that set of issues which they prioritize higher, but the sincere “Close The Border” constituency found themselves with only one possible candidate after Heidi Cruz was revealed as one of the architects of the North American Union scheme.

I agree. Neither cankles or rumplehair will be it.

I sure hope the Trump team is anticipating this and building intel on Biden, Fauxahauntas, kerry among others.

If they enter, he’d be able to fire from the hip immediately.

He will get my vote although I preferred Cruz. I thin, what would the Democrats want me to do? They’d want me to be a NeverTrump. So I will vote for him. Never do what your enemy wants you to do.

"...Some of the same people that said they would never again support the lesser of evils..."

I view Trump as the lesser of two evils, but...he is so much less of an evil in so many ways than his Democrat opponents, that it cannot even be called "The lesser of two weevils"

Oops...Evils...evils!

"To NOT do this is tantamount to Treason IMO to the goals of the Republican Party."

Unless it isn't. it may be treason-ous to the voters, but the goals of the Republican Party, of which many here are still (why?) registered members, are it's own preservation. I did not say perservation of it's principles.

What we are seeing in the Republican party is the same behavior of governments and institutions of Man since the beginning of time. This is what men in groups do, have done, will do ... the organization lasts for a time, eventually become corrupted by an excess of moral toxin, and then it dies. As it's dying, those who recognize that it's no longer devoted to preservation of principle but preservation of itself over principle leave. Those who don't leave, resist the death, doubly distracting them from the original principles. They cling more tightly. They are no longer protecting power and wealth, but the pipeline that delivers that power and wealth.

The thing to do is to recognize it for what it is: A different form of the same thing that has been going on since the beginning of man. It probably even happens in groups of other animals at a level appropriate to that species. It is not, ultimately, a moral issue itself. Yes, the morals and ethics are out the door, but the fact that it is happening is no more good or bad than the fact that we are born and we live and we die.

Don't be confused or emotional. This is a reaction to you not having expected this. But it's just like the forest - you don't really know which tree or plant life or animal or insect is going to die next, but always, life is being started and ended all around you. As it ends, there is a clinging that doesn't resemble in any way the life of the tree or animal.

So the universe is just fine - God's world is totally intact. The emotion and the suffering comes because your expectations were of something else.

Adjust your expectations. Expect mankind, especially in groups, to accomplish some good things, but also do serious and much evil, and always eventually to die.

I recommend walking away from the patient and investing in a new life.

The principles never die, but the vehicle for delivering the principle has to either recover or be allowed to die so that a new vehicle can be built, inhabitable by the principles.

It's just a choice - if you believe the party is just sick, then nurture it. If you believe it's dying - diseased beyond recovery - let it die and participate in the way you see fit to build a new vehicle.

What's going on seems big to us because we're in it, it's in front of us, and it affects us and our kids deeply. But that doesn't mean it's unnatural.

Accept it, change it, or leave it. But no need for emotion, drama, suffering ... and certainly not surprise. Mankind is many good things ... I love mankind ... but he is what he is - as Steyn says - history is just a cycle that repeats over and over again - farce followed by farce followed by trajedy. This is just what he is sometimes doing ... unbelievably stupid, treacherous and destructive behavior, with no one acting sanely including the ones who we once called 'the good guys' ... except a few, who, at the time, are called all sorts of nasty names. Usually they are the ones who build the new vehicle.

The Republican party - I guarantee you it's as bad as you suspect, and worse. Whether it's time to let it die - I say it is. I could be wrong.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/candidate-clash-republicans-face-off-first-2016-debate-204946401—election.html?ref=gs

Here is a clip of what he actually said. He said only that he would have to respect the nominee. Apparently the fact that the voters would have chosen the nominee was not enough for him.

He did not say anything about being treated fairly at that time. He added that in a subsequent debate after he came under intense criticism and reversed his initial refusal to commit. Then he later repudiated that, claiming that he was treated unfairly.

So it was a very unloyal performance on his part, yet his supporters now complain that others are not loyal to him now that he’s the GOP nominee. Once again, the world’s smallest violin is playing in the background.

That is exactly how people should look at it.

The Liberals would LOVE it if a NeverTrump movement really took hold. And if people embrace that, well...who are you making happy?

I admit there have been times recently where, in my innermost personal thoughts, I skirted with the concept of rooting for the most liberal candidates, all of them, to win, and apply grease to the skids so we could get this downward fall over with. Only that way, I thought, could the rebuilding begin.

Those were times of weakness. And I do have them on occasion.

In case you didn't get the reference, it was an inside joke:

CAPTAIN JACK AUBREY: Do you see those two weevils, Doctor?

DR. STEPHEN MATURIN: I do.

CAPTAIN JACK AUBREY: Which would you choose?

DR. STEPHEN MATURIN: Neither. There's no difference between them. They're the same species of curculio.

CAPTAIN JACK AUBREY: If you had to choose…If you were forced to make a choice. If there was no other...

DR. STEPHEN MATURIN: Well then, if you're going to push me...I would choose the right-hand weevil. It has significant advantage in both length and breadth.

CAPTAIN JACK AUBREY: There, I have you! (slaps hand loudly on the table) You're completely dished. Do you not know that in the service one must always choose the lesser of two weevils?
