My smallest concealed carry is a Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 380. By all accounts a quality pistol. In practice, though, I increasingly dislike it. The long 12-pound trigger pull prevents accurate, consistent shooting. After over a year and many hundreds of rounds, the results are all over the place.
By comparison, I can place a six-inch result at 45-feet and at 21-feet, mostly in 3-inch, using either a Sig Sauer P320SC or, almost as well, with a S&W M&P Shield 40.
At 21-feet, the S&W 380 Bodyguard is typically 8-12 inches.
I like the smaller size of the S&W Bodyguard 380.
So my question is, what replacement would you recommend? So many choices in that smallest size format...
Check out the Springfield XDS. 9mm, .40, or .45.

My personal observations, experience, and recommendations are this:
UP GUN UNTIL 20 JAN 17! Buy whatever you will carry, can shoot accurately, and are comfortable with. Train with the ammo you shoot. Carry spare magazines. Practice the "grey man" concept of CCW. The Gibsmedats, leftist, commies, etc. are getting more and more dangerous, aggressive, and are emboldend by Obama/Lynch and the "FERGESON EFFECT".
Little Rock has it's Riverfest event this weekend. I wonder what the body count will be. Of course our liberal MSM will tell us of the "isolated" "minor" crime by "youths" and "teens" outside of the festivities.

Both good choices, but much bigger than the Bodyguard 380. I already have and like the S&W M&P 40 and the Sig Sauer P320SC. I’m really trying to find a good replacement for the smaller S&W Bodyguard 380, in either .380 or 9mm.

I find the small handguns are difficult to shoot well. My EDC is a Glock 27, 40 S&W and I recently purchased a S&W Shield in 9mm. Both are easy to conceal, but large enough to shoot accurately.
My personal experience is that I strongly prefer a heavy trigger pull in a weapon used for self defense against live targets and a light trigger pull for engaging static paper targets.
I like the simplicity and reliability of the piece you’re already carrying and would not suggest changing it.
My wife *loves* her Sig P238.
Although my carry alternates between a Kahr CW9 and a S&W M&P Shield 9 I can honestly say that P238 is the nicest of the little 380s we tried. And she tried a LOT of them. Sigh.
If I was going to carry a smaller gun, or a backup, I would get P238. We both like the trigger, and it is surprisingly accurate at 21 feet.
My brother has a Bersa Thunder 380, which is a pretty nice one also, but not up to the Sig IMO. Still it is one of the better 380s that we tried.

Congratulations on having more guns than me.
All I can say is that I carry a single stack 9 in my pocket all the time that I legally can and I don’t feel like it is heavy or inconvenient at all and no body including my close friends and the fascists at whole foods know I have it. I have a Keltec pf-9. I’m certainly not going to say it’s a a pistol you should buy, but it’s a dirt cheap gun that goes bang if you use the right ammunition and hits things at normal self defense distance.
I’ve been thinking that I would like a gun suitable for IDPA etc but that still fits in my pocket. My current theory is that a Springfield XDS 9mm with a 4” barrel would work for what I want, but I don’t know if that is true.
If you have a Sig 320sc, have you thought of putting a 4” slide on it? Being able to do stuff like that is a lot of the idea behind that gun and I think that might be interesting.
Second on the Bersa
And surprisingly accurate. Mrs. Child swears by hers. Says it was well worth the cost difference.

Depending what state you live in I am finding I am carrying full size pistols more often as open carry becomes common. I am less and less concerned if people know or see that I am armed.
Last evening the wife and I went out to eat and I open carried my dress up pistol a SR1911 I do no think not one person noticed it.
I open or conceal carry all depending on what I am doing and the weather.
On my ankle daily,revolver on my hip,daily
I take my new handguns to my gunsmith, and say, “I want two and a half lbs trigger pull on this.”
In a few minutes, I am happily on my way. I know some competitive shooters that want a 1 to 1.5 lb. trigger pull.
