Cancer surgery/biopsy (vanity)
me | 6/21/16 | me

My pathology came back Monday.

In a nutshell, although I did not specifically ask "what stage?", I think it's a stage I.

Surgeon said the tumor was smaller than they thought. Lymph nodes were clear, and the margins they took out were clear.

Paper mills?

Never experienced it except in Maine. My grandfather was a manager for mills all over, ending up in Maine most of my father’s life. Visiting him, it stunk! Just like you know what, H2S. The house was in town with the mill. Oh, those summer nights!

Most of my uncles had some connection with the paper industry. Not my dad, though. We’re just general-purpose engineers. ;-)

Just want to thank everyone for your support and wonderful prayers!

God is indeed great!

I am not great with faith - always pessimistic and cynical - but I know God will help me if that is what He wants.

I do think it’s interesting that I got on this conveyor ride not by worrying about cancer, but about something else. It’s as if I was put there to find out early.

(AS A TANGENT: Husband just called saying he could be on TV news tonight - volunteer at Scout camp this week and yesterday they had to close up for tremendous wind/rain storms that hit us; tornadoes. Local TV interviewed him. Anyway....! LOL sorry just had to write that down!)

UPDATE: Just got call from genetics.

I have bad BC genes of 2 kinds in me.

So, genetically I DO have a problem. Whether it makes my oncologist freak out and posit more “treatment” is another question.

Luckily I only have 1 bad of each, not both parts of the pairs, but still could mean this is why I have young BC.

OnLine Rebel, How are you doing? Still my computer is broken, and I’ve been away from the forum for a while. Just checking in now with my phone, and I saw your message above. Stage 2 survivor here, also with “bad genes,” but five years from diagnosis now.

Starting radiation Monday.

Just had blood taken to finish clotting favtor tests. The major tests were OK but we are checking the rest to be sure about genetic clotting.

Because my 2nd opinion had a very different opinion based on my clot history about what I should do for hormonal treatment. So maybe it will help make the decision.

They take clots very seriously. I had a couple of tiny, nonthreatening clots during chemo, and the docs put me on shots. I had to give myself shots twice a day. I hope your docs find that clotting isn’t an issue for you. But it’s good that they’re being careful.
