Anybody ever thought about rewording the Bill of Rights / Constitution?

I've been wondering what our most hallowed documents would be like if they were to be reworded for modern times, so as to prevent another zer0 in the future.

so as to prevent another zer0 in the future.

Wording doesn't matter to liberal judges or Presidents.

“Congress shall pass no law” period.

That's why the executive branch exploded into hundreds of departments.

Congressional inaction should result in zero funding for all three branches.

tl;dr version, yes I have. It's not finished.

longer version: Updated first and second amendments-- and third, which references an unwritten 4th that would require paper search or arrest warrants physically served at the public entrance to the place to be searched.

1. Congress shall be neutral in matters of religion, neither approving nor prohibiting the public display or exercise of religious belief by Citizens. Congress shall not regulate the spoken or printed word, neither aiding nor preventing any Citizen in the expression in words of any idea. Congress shall neither prevent nor assist the peaceable gathering of Citizens for any purpose whatsoever, especially when such a gathering is purposed to demonstrate the will and petition of the Citizens. The concept in law of criminal thought or speech is abolished. Henceforth, “crime” is defined as “an overt act of force or fraud”.

2. The right of the Citizen to weapons is inviolate. A Citizen may own weapons, carry them from place to place openly or concealed, obtain such materials as enable maintenance and lawful use of them, without hindrance, regulation, or taxation. Any attempt to disarm a Citizen not in the commission of a crime shall constitute Treason, and be punished by public hanging.

3. Citizens will not be compelled to admit into their homes civil or military agents of the government for any purpose or duration except as provided in paragraph 4.

Longest version, some of the rest that I have written.

We, the People of the United States of America, are the sovereign authority within the Several States that form the Nation, and thereby within the Nation as a Whole. Whether we act individually, or collectively by common consent, each of us is the lawful equal of any of us. We have determined by that consent that a Constitution—a basic Law that shall stand as the final authority by which all other laws are measured, and either confirmed or nullified—is a necessity for the preservation of the Sovereignty of the People, with all of their rights and liberties;

• To strengthen the unity of the Nation, while retaining the essential rights and character of the States;

• To provide the People with an environment of liberty, secure against threats from within or without; and

• To provide a means to the end that, should the Nation or any State come under attack from without, to meet such attack with overwhelming destructive force of a kind that will leave the attacker regretting having entertained the thought of such attack.

Article 1.

Section 1

All authority to make law is vested in the Congress of the United States, which consists of a Senate and House of Representatives.

The lawmaking authority cannot be delegated by the Congress to another agent or agency; nor may any agent or agency pretend to make law with or without the approval of Congress.

Any law made by Congress must quote that portion of Article 1, Section 8 of this Constitution which permits such law to be made, to a minimum extent of one complete sentence. Words, phrases and clauses are insufficient.

Section 2

The House of Representatives shall be composed of Members chosen every second Year by the People of the several States.

No Person shall be a Representative who shall not have attained to the Age of twenty five Years, and been seven Years a Citizen of the United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State in which he shall be chosen.

Representatives shall be apportioned among the several States according to their respective numbers, counting the whole number of United States Citizens in each State.

The actual Enumeration shall continue to be made every ten Years, in such Manner as they shall by Law direct, counting the number of Citizens, and for purposes of posterity recording their names, sexes, kinship relationships to the head of each household, and ages at the end of the year in which the enumeration is made, and no other information; such records to be sealed for a period of seventy years and then published without copyright.

The first amendment at this point in time: Every citizen has the obligation to agree with their intellectually superior Democrat-and/or-globalist RINO elected officials.

The second amendment fairly soon: If you follow the first amendment maybe you can have a gun. After all, you may want to end your life. But listen, the government can do that for you. We are quite happy to help out, especially if you’re white and over 65.

We already have this constitution in Canada.

REALLY BAD idea.

The re-wording would be fraught with problems, and written totally differently by liberals and constitutional conservatives - and the two documents would look like they came from two different planets.

A good friend and I were discussing how different sects of Christianity can each back up their positions with scripture - and a lot of it.

So we thought we’d offer a new website: You tell us your beliefs, and we will provide all the scriptures to support them. For $100. Believe in suicide? “Judas went and hanged himself.” “Go thou and do likewise.....”

For $200, we’ll compile a whole list of doctrines to support your beliefs with supporting scriptures.

If you want a sermon on any belief - another $100.

Scripture is often abused by the bias of the interpreter.

And the Constitution is no different. Roe v. Wade being perhaps the prime example.

I did specifically state it as a thought exercise. We all know full well what the communists would love to do, that being shred it and institute the communist manifesto.

I’m absolutely sure of that. I’m just putting it out there as a thought exercise.

I think the age of a representative should be bumped up to 30, and have completed at least six years of military service with no less than a medical discharge.

The voting rules should be changed as well, as it would prevent Rubio and more like him.

Representatives and senators must vote on all bills; in case of illness, a delegated secondary may vote in their stead. All votes will be a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ vote; there shall be no ‘abstention’ from voting or ‘present’ vote. Failure to vote on five bills shall be considered abdication of their duty, and summarily removed from their seat. The state government of the removed representative or senator shall appoint someone that meets all the qualifications of prospective candidates seeking election.

No representative or senator shall receive any compensation.

Under no circumstances shall people known as “lobbyists” be allowed in the congress. If they are found inside the congress, they shall be arrested by the Sergeant at Arms.

were to be reworded for modern times

I believe it is fine the way it is as we speak.

I hear people suggest the Constitution is outdated. Ignorance of the founding documents often leads people to that conclusion.

Will you provide an example of a part you would reword in a before and after format and share it for discussion?

“A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”

to

“The Natural Right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed in any way.” Get rid of the first half, so there’s no room for “interpretation.”
