“Riding Dirty” The Curious Case of Philando Castile – Falcon Heights, MN Police Shooting…
The Conservative Treehouse ^ | 7-8-16 | sundance

Posted on 07/08/2016 12:54:31 PM PDT by sheikdetailfeather

MAJOR UPDATE BELOW: In order to give the update context we are placing the update at the conclusion of the original outline.

By now everyone is aware of the officer involved shooting of Philando Castile that became a viral BLM activist case as a direct result of his girlfriend, Diamond Reynolds (aka Lavish Reynolds) live-streaming the aftermath from their vehicle. – BACK STORY HERE –

NOTE: It is critical to remember -as you review the images and the video- optically the live stream was captured as a mirror image. Some video uploads mirror the image, it can be confusing, you have to reset your reference points. Philando Castile was driving, Diamond Reynolds was the passenger.

During the uploaded video narration Ms. Reynolds stated the police officer pulled them over for a broken tail light.

There are several aspects of the narrative as told that didn’t pass the sniff test, however, something about the “tail light” just didn’t seem to make sense. Especially when you consider it was daylight when they were pulled over; and where –in the aftermath media video– it can be noted the tail lights were operable.

I want to make sure I understand your thinking. You're suggesting that an officer has to wait until a gun is drawn and pointed at him before he can react? Please explain to me how that works.

As I've constantly said, before he pulls the trigger, there has to be an actual threat. Not a 'maybe he'll aim the gun at me', but an actual threat. I have zero issue with the officer drawing his firearm, aiming at the person - I do take issue with him not taking two steps to the left to put the structural column between himself and the person he pulled over. I take issue with him firing without a threat present.

We don't kill people because of what they might do - that's the liberal's rationalization for murdering babies in the womb.

“If not, and this doesn’t disturb you,”

It doesn’t disturb me at all.

I guess you missed my point. A cop can always radio in and say he’s stopping a car because one of the occupants looks like a robbery suspect.

No, I didn't miss your point. You said he would wait for backup. He didn't, even though he told the dispatcher that was the reason for the stop.

He announced it to everyone listening that the driver looked like a robbery suspect, but yet he didn't wait. That disproves your point, unless there was some sort of codeword that meant "Never mind! Just kidding!" to anyone listening.

I've looked at the still photos of the robbery, and I see the resemblance to the victim. But, I also don't see any characteristic that uniquely matches the two images as the same person.

How do you “CONFIRM” what someone “believed”?

But, “sadly”, you don’t even realize what you posted. If the cop thought he was a robbery suspect he would have waited for back up. You say it’s “confirmed” the cop “might have believed” he was a robbery suspect. Again, why didn’t he wait for back up? Talk about “popping off” without thinking.

because I would go to jail for doing what the police officer did, then so too should the police officer. Think, for a moment, how utterly stupid an argument that is: you are really giving people the task of enforcing the law, and then giving them no actions which are uniquely permissible by virtue of their duty.

You're right, there's not much to discuss if you believe officers should operate under different laws than we do. I do not. I do not think any government employee is ever above the law.

I'm not going to move from that position, so I guess there really is nothing to discuss.

Correct, my bad, does not preclude permit from another county.

Your thinking would get a LOT of officers killed. Tying the hands of law enforcement like that is not a good idea. They have to make snap judgments based on actual or perceived threats, not kingu’s idea of what constitutes a threat.

If that's the way it happened, then it was miscommunication, aggravated by a previous event that had the officer on edge.

I see no reason to believe her story, without evidence (and no small amount of evidence, either).

This is why I think body cameras should be mandatory, because it would settle the issue immediately. We have them in my city, and they've been very helpful.

What would be even more helpful would be if people were realistic about the internal threats to our society and to our country (soccer moms, and their right to vote, are the most destructive force known to man, in that they can bring the greatest country ever known to her knees). Body cams are a band-aid applied to stage 6 cancer.

Reasonable post. Tempers are flaring on afar and rightly so but we must live according to our constitution. Even if he had robbed a liquor store.

No, nothing bad about it. I thought the state police issued it, and someone corrected me as well.

It's kind of curious: so many people are demanding "proof" of a CHL/CCW, but are willing to declare him a gang member based on one or two pictures among many of his family.

Castile's mother has been quoted that both he and his sister hold permits. Why would she say something like that about her daughter if it wasn't true?

And, while you might say any number of disparaging things about the Gophers, gang members generally don't enroll at the University of MN, or work for the St. Paul school system for over a decade.

Your thinking would get a LOT of officers killed.

The door's over there, thank you officer for your service, please enjoy your new life as a civilian security guard or whatever you go on to.

Tying the hands of law enforcement like that is not a good idea.

Untying them has officers murdering people based on what they might do. This did not work.

They have to make snap judgments based on actual or perceived threats, not kingu’s idea of what constitutes a threat.

No, they just have to claim that they thought something might happen, enjoy a paid vacation, then go back to work. There are bodies across the country - that one had an airsoft rifle, that one had a bb gun, that one had a hose nozzle... Enough is enough.

Was there an imminent and direct threat to the officer or passengers? No? Then take two steps towards the back of the car to take yourself out of his immediate line of sight where you can observe the passengers, keep your gun trained on the driver and regain control of the situation. Pulling the damn trigger is NOT what should be considered acceptable.

You have no idea what happened.

You have no idea what happened.

Show me any official statement which says a firearm was drawn by the person shot and killed.

He was killed for what the officer thought he might be doing when there were many other options available, such as getting out of the line of fire and taking over the situation. Arrest the officer, let a jury hear the evidence.

Yes, even if he robbed a liquor store or ran over an old lady in a cross walk or whatever else.
