How to win the war of ideas against Black Lives Matter
Unto the Breach ^ | 11 July 2016 | Chris Carter

Turn on the news today or log into your social media and you will see headline after headline of attacks on our liberty and security. Whether it’s anti-police riots, jihadist gunmen, or corrupt politicians, our nation’s traditions and principles are under heavy assault. It is demoralizing. We know who seeks to destroy our society and what their objectives are. But what can we actually do to stop them?

What we face today are multiple “wars of ideas.” While enemy combatants are not an invading force shooting bullets and dropping bombs, the outcome is the same. Our way of life is up for grabs. The Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement is an opponent in one of the idea wars. The attacks on our police officers – and law and order itself – coming from their protests across the nation are a threat to our justice system and could have far-reaching effects if we do not engage.

Fortunately we do not need to adopt their tactics of lawlessness and violence to defeat them.

Author Robert R. Reilly lays out four maxims for winning wars of ideas in The Knowledge Group’s 2015 special report, The Islamic State and Information Warfare: Defeating ISIS and the Broader Global Jihadist Movement:

Actually there is a platform. Most of the ideas seem unworkable, for example the “for profit policing” might suck, particularly in poor communities since the bills are the same but with much less tax base to work with. And the position against “broken Windows policing” and other quality of life initiatives will pretty much ensure the tax base situation never improves. Also the whole thing is race based.

There are some goodish things though, mental health issues present special challenges, and community oversight is a good idea, though not to the point that criminals can hijack the system to fire every cop that is actually effective or likely to testify against them. Body cameras are a great idea.

Democrats win with elections dominated by social issues (or so the theory goes).

Republicans win with elections dominated by security and pocketbook issues.

These ideas won’t work in today’s society, because of the liberal press. Those ideas will never make it to the general public. That is why Obama got a 2nd term. The quality of this country will never exceed the quality of the press. We’re toast.

Labeled as a hate group? That would be political suicide.

The solution would be to avoid talking with the protesters themselves. The target audience would be the American people. Disarm the movement by exposing and delegitimizing their agenda.
