Algebra was the only F I ever made in K-12 and college.

Same here, almost. I took Algebra 1 as a HS junior and got a D. Took Algebra 2...and got a D. Same teacher. Poor Mrs. Costello. I frustrated her so.

These days, I have no problem with it. I think it is because I am a very logically minded, linear thinker. I had problems with variables and such. With integers and hard numbers I had no problem.

A² + B² = C².......what the hell is that?

Instead of algebra, Perhaps all college students should take a statistics course.
Agree and I also think stats should be taught in HS replacing some of the algebra, geometry, pre-calc, trigonometry that most will never use.

I only had HS Algebra I, so when I went to college, I had to take College Algebra I and II, then I took Calculus I. Trig was a prerequisite for Calc II, but I talked them into letting me take in concurrently.

I never had HS geometry, and that slowed me down a bit in Calc I. I studied extra hard in Calc I, so Calc II was a breeze. The students who just memorized the formulas had trouble, but I did not.

Calc III was a challenge, because I don't have good spatial vision. Really enjoyed diffEQ.

A person needs to know Algebra to be able to do Calculus, so this change makes no sense to me, unless they are just accepting the HS equivalent classes as meeting the requirements for the prerequisite
