Should I take the Medicare Current Beneficiary Survey?

Posted on 09/11/2016 4:35:15 AM PDT by Lacey

Actually it's my husband. A woman from the National Opinion Research Center (U of Chicago) showed up at our door yesterday to follow up on a letter from the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services branch of Dept of HHS) sent to him (don't remember getting one) to participate in the Medicare Beneficiary Survey.

I think he should ignore this.

Does anyone know anything about this? Should he participate?

A CMMS link would be something like www.cmms. gov or something. The link cited is suspicious.

People who believe that the govt is out to get them have given away their power. When good people do nothing, evil moves in and thrives.

Fraud. Trying to get your SS# and then steal benefits. SHUT THE DOOR. Report it to your state AG, the FBI, and CMS.

SS does NOT come to your door or call you. No more than the FBI or NSA does. It’s like all those official looking ads, a way to get money out of you.

I just tend to agree with the side that says “no way.” Mr Lacey so far doesn’t.

I assume you’ve made your case to your spouse. I also assume he’s heard and understands
your position. Imo, that said you should make it clear to him you don’t approve but leave that
decision up to him and move on. Don’t
continue to rub it in his face no matter which way he chooses.

When the left politicized the US Census I stopped cooperating. IDC if it is the law - *I* don’t think that it’s any of their business (especially when they use my answers against me).

Just say no.

We conduct non-partisan research...

And for that lie, I would refuse to participate.

...to provide information to people who make decisions on key social issues.

Oh yeah, sure...and do you sell bridges with that?

Tell them to stick all their "research" crap.

I throw all that crap in the trash and hang up on any real or acting-as-real survey takers that call my phone.

AARP has finally stopped bugging me, since I sent all their crap back to them, along with a 4 pound piece of sheet metal, using their self-addressed postage paid envelope.

Had to do it more than once, but they got the message, eventually.

What has happened to Free Republic?

We are getting questions about whether they should “allow” their adult child to get married. Now we are presented with questions about if you should answer a survey?

If you cannot figure the answers to these questions, you are bordering on mental defect.

People, think for yourselves. This site used to be filled with people of common sense and intelligence. Now, the sheep are gathering.

Anytime someone with a gooberment agency shows up at my doorstep, I respectfully request they get a warrant for any type of additional information.

I can think for myself and Mr Lacey can certainly make his own decisions, with or without my approval. But my perhaps poorly worded initial post was wondering if anyone else knew about this agency and had experience with taking the survey.

NEVER volunteer any information to anyone, ever!
You'll ever regret making this protocol a habit.
That said, always tell the truth when asked, and you'll never have to have a good memory (per Judge Judy, lol).

Tough one. When I didn’t fill out the census they called several times and threatened to fine me $200. They said the fine would be assessed repeatedly until I returned the census.

F it. They got it back. I doubt the information on it will be of any use. Bastards.

"If you have been contacted to participate in the Medicare Current Beneficiary Survey (MCBS) and would like to verify your selection in this study, please contact NORC toll free at 1-877-389-3429. You can also visit our respondent website at www.mcbs.norc.org."

Heh, heh. That's pretty good. If you have been contacted by an entity your not sure of, call that entity and they'll tell you they're legit. Seriously?

It is highly suspect that someone is showing up at your door. Don’t get involved.
