There’s a video on youtube of some teenage kid who hand built a bolt action .22 that shoots around corners based on pretty much this same concept. He admits it’s not very accurate and is basically a novelty.

During WWII, some tank crews were issued M1 carbines with a 90° cut barrel. The curve of the barrel was open on the inside of the 90° like an open half pipe top side on a park’s water slide.

They had a rig that attached to a rifle in WW1 that let you shoot from a trench without sticking your head above the top...it used a periscope.

I’ve seen pics of such devices on WW2 German weapons, looked like a gas pipe sliced in two lengthwise, bent, and attached to the barrel. Simplistic, but effective.
