What allowed Trump to win, was the thing that the "Establishment" and "traditional conservatives" found so objectionable -- his willingness to dispense with "political correctness" and politeness, and go for the throat.

Regular Republican politicians would rather be thought "polite" and "civilized" than win. Trump wanted to win.

Compare and contrast how somebody like McCain treated Obama in 2008, versus how he treated his more-conservative opponent primary-challenger for his Senate seat.

I remember that Rooster. I Started telling everyone here in L.A be was going to win. The libs didn’t believe me but kept asking me throughout the process. They got more and more nervous as that year and a half progressed. Because Trump just kept winning an I told then at the start oh it was so much fun. Only now are folks from Socal just coming out their daze. Very angry and confused getting in GWB mode. But Trump isn’t a chump like W. It would be nice to have the final popular vote total counted and go to Trump to further gut punch them right when they think they got their mind around it. They have no idea what happened and I’ve been explaining but these folks are just politically stupid it’s easier just to think all the rest of the country a bunch of stupid racists

Cruz probably could have won...

**********

We’ll never know but Cruz will be back on the campaign trail in a few months
assuming he intends to run for the Senate seat. It will be interesting to see who runs
against him and how Texas reacts.

Trump spent half of what Hillary spent. I don’t know how you could quantify the media earned by being Trump and doubling down on political incorrectness, but it’s epic and unprecedented.

Alright, Trump is the only one of the 17 who could win. I liked others could have taken Cruz or Walker. Don’t write me about their merits. They proved to be good on each side of conservatism. But Trump had something that those two did not have. Trumps money did not go away when the going got tough. When everyone left Trump for dead, he still had his money. And secondly, Trump showed that he had far more energy than even his handlers. Trump out campaigned everybody. Trump worked it hard for 16 months.

You can see my second point with reference to both Jeb and Hillary. They both had more cash than they knew what to do with. But they did not have the energy to personally show up every day and every night in front of thousands of people. Trump did. Remember Trump going to a rally in California, getting out of his motorcade on the highway and walking to the venue over guard rails and through bushes. Jeb and Hillary would not do that.

And here is the dirty little secret that kills most candidates. Even if they want to stick to it. Their money gets weak in the knees. Rubio would have kept fighting. But his money wouldn’t. Money almost always gives up before the candidate. But Trumps money was not going to quit.

Cruz, um no.

Not after losing the entire South, every county in Florida & Ohio could Ted have possibly won. She certainly would have won FL, OH, PA, WI, MI.

She would have campaigned much less and won very easily.

And if he did pose a serious threat, she could have him DQ late in the race. He is not qualified by the same Constitution he touts next to his Bible.

Cruz was very well hated in Florida, not winning a single county.

No Florida = No win USA

No, the Clinton camp did not really want Trump.

The republican party fed you that lie.

No other candidate would have brought in the blue collar guys. There would have been no daily rally threads, like we had for Trump.

No way Jeb Bush, Ted Cruz or Rubio would have won. No way in hell.

I was all in for Cruz until our primary here in South Carolina.
Cruz won no precincts and no demography in a state that has liberal Charleston,
moderate Columbia and conservative Greenville.
There was nothing for him to work on or "fix".
He had no base to build on, his train had no wheels,
it was already over for him.

Even the enemedia would likely have regarded Cruz as the winner of the three debates with Hillary Clinton. So what? He would have been lucky to carry the states Romney had four years ago.

My contribution to all:

McCain and Romney actually got in the 60,000,000 range as well; same as Trump. Trump probably has more votes to be added on from Michigan and perhaps NH too.

All 3 did similarly, I think we are looking at a lot of voter fraud in ‘08 and ‘12.

So, it might be possible one of the others could have done well too; but the Dems could not commit as much fraud this time. They still did, 3 million illegals voted per voterfraud ; covered in a New American article today.

I would add that Trump also benefitted from a highly enthused Internet army of supporters. People who collectively were clever enough to flood social media with pro-Trump memes and bury Hillary.

They were ferreting out Hillary’s Correct the Record (CTR) operatives and deftly used Reddit, 4chan, Twitter, Facebook, and other platforms to propel Trump’s message. They even hijacked many of Hillary’s campaign hashtags and used them to her. Diamond and Silk were incredible on Youtube.

Social media allowed Trump to completely bypass the media. Obama may have started using it in 2008, but Trump wrote the book on it.

I think Walker could have, if we ever got any traction. I am surprised that he never did.

I was and I still am a big Walker backer but he didn't know what he was doing on the immigration question, I think he took his cues from fellow Wisconsinite Paul Ryan.

Walker doesn’t even have good hair and sounds like a clerk. He would have been destroyed. Any of them would have. It took a garish combination of confidence, charisma, aplomb, stamina, and inventing the rules as you go along to defeat Hillary and her hellish media. Trump alone was brazen enough. Nothing else would have worked. I say that as a former Cruz guy. He would have been boatraced.

Oddly the Clinton camp wanted Trump because they thought he was a clown.

He was.

Who else was going to look Hillary Clinton in the face and tell the truth about the Clintons? For a Rep. Candidate to win, it had to be an outsider. Politicians are too PC and have their finger to the wind. Trump never backed down...he wasn’t afraid to lose, so that made him all the bolder.

But who can win next time? Pence! Pence did a great job campaigning. He was a great debater! His twitter is fabulous! And he was a governor and congressman. He knows his stuff. And he is a real conservative who stuck with Trump.
