The earthquake/shake-off of MSM: Brexit; Trump; Colombia

Posted on 11/27/2016 7:10:47 PM PST by FreedomUS

My point is not to give an opinion re Brexit or Colombia -FARC deal, but merely to point out the slap in the face of the media. As an American I saw it as a great statement against the biased MSM in our great country.

In the US:

In The Wake Of Trump's Win, Here Are 5 Ways The Media Can Regain Credibility - Forbes - Nov 17, 2016 - Trump's victory surprised those who should have seen it ... The 2016 election dragged the media's credibility to an all-time low.

In UK

British Media Stunned By Surprise Brexit Vote | Hollywood Reporter - Jun 23, 2016 - British media reacted with a mix of shock, surprise and, depending on the outlet, elation after the results of the historic Brexit vote came...

In Colombia

In Surprise Result, Colombian Voters Reject Peace Deal - NPR Oct 2, 2016

On Colombia Peace Vote, Pollsters Miss Again ... Oct 3, 2016 - The 'No' on the accord with FARC came as a surprise, just like Brexit and a series of other poorly forecast outcomes

The reporters and editors are blinded to the might of their publishings, which is far, far above that of a reporter on a local paper giving the details of an auto accident or of a town board meeting. There ought to be some kind of actionable standards for truth in reporting consistent with the far-reaching damage one article can do to the individual or business affected by it.

It is the total lack of accountability of the reporter and his publisher that is at stake here.

...which explains the half admission by nytimes. Then again, they havn't changed. I saw how Chrisianne Amanpour did not like how a media for of Netanyahu, from the lefty iconic media in Israel Ilana Dayan (http://edition.cnn.com/videos/world/2016/11/22/intv-amanpour-ilana-dayan-trump-israel.cnn ) admitted to her: "There is truth in Netanyshu's charge against the media. We treated him with bias.."

The Israeli example (CNN’ Amanpour interviews Israeli Lefty iconic media champion Ilana Dayan (Nov-22-2016). See her admission of bias):

Ilana dayan: It plays well with his political press — with his political base, and in that sense Bibi is the original, Trump is the copycat.

And, you know, the only thing that I could tell to myself was that — and I was thinking about it a lot ever since it happened, Netanyahu is not my rival. I’m not a threat to Netanyahu. He is my prime minister and I’m covering him.

Again, I think that for Netanyahu, it’s both a reaction that comes from hostility and form a grudge that he holds because there were times in which he didn’t get fair play from the media. One has to say that and one has to credit him that there was bias and there was kind of problematic coverage.

But as far as I’m concerned, nowadays, and that’s something we do know, if I met him tonight, I would tell him, listen Netanyahu, you are my prime minister, you are not my enemy. And that’s why we read this response because it was in a way our way of saying exactly that.

AMANPOUR: Ilana Dayan, thank you so much...
