Obama To Military: Transparency Provides Check On "Unfettered Executive Power"
RCP Video ^ | 12-6-2016 | Ian Schwartz

Posted on 12/07/2016 4:09:28 AM PST by Sir Napsalot

President Obama delivers his final military speech to members of the military and public Tuesday afternoon in Tampa, Florida.

"Let my final words to you as your Commander-in-Chief be a reminder of what it is that you’re fighting for, what it is that we are fighting for," he said.

.................

PRESIDENT OBAMA: " Number five, transparency and accountability serve our national security not just in times of peace, but, more importantly, in times of conflict. ..........

And yesterday, I directed our government for the first time to release a full description of the legal and policy frameworks that guide our military operations around the world.

This public information allows for a more informed public debate, and it provides a potential check on unfettered executive power. The power of the presidency is awesome, but it is supposed to be bound by you, our citizens. (Applause.) But here’s the thing: That information doesn’t mean anything, it doesn’t work if the people’s representatives in Congress don’t do their jobs, if they’re not paying attention. (emphasis mine)

Blah...Blah...Blah...The words ring of truth, from the mouthpiece from hell.

It does prove one thing, he knows the difference between right and wrong.

44 days...already irrelevant!

Yeah, I think that really is the point. He's been overwhelmed by the Trump narrative this year and is desperately trying to be important. But nobody's paying attention because they're far more interested in what's coming up.

Would release of the policies help our enemies by knowing in advance how we will react to attack?First and foremost he is not releasing the policies, only a "description" of the policies. They will certainly provide an operational if not a tactical advantage to our enemies. Of course this is one more little mess Trump needs to clean up ASAP. A description can be anything you choose it to be. It is not the actual documentation.

That makes for interesting speculation.

Obama was driven to destroy the country because of ideology.

Hillary is motivated more by greed and power.

While the Clintons are well-known for the fact that people who cross them so conveniently die, I am not aware that Obama silences those who oppose him?

Anyway... I’m sure one could come up with a number of speculations on how bad Hillary might have been, compared to how bad we know Obama has been. It’s really hard to day whether she would have been worse—probably equally bad, but in different ways.

The only think I know for sure is that we dodged a huge bullet by electing Trump. I am positive that Hillary was set to double down on Obama’s destructive policies, and drive racial tensions even higher while adding gender-based tensions into the mix. And she was frighteningly fascinated by the prospect of war with Russia.

Yeah, you are right. That is important. Also time for families to gather instead of funeral’s.

Be glad OBowma and Ashley Wilkes Carter are gone in 44 days or this exquisitely drafted treatise on “transparency and legal frameworks” would become part of the Intermediate and Senior service school curricula

44 more days with a Free-America-hating putz as CIC. I bet the soldiers are praying that time goes very, very quickly.

Probably same difference. Hillary has been REAL close to
HUMA ABEDIN WEINER for a very long time; probably even
closer than OBAMA has been to VALERIE JARRETT. CLOSE TIES
TO THE MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD. Both Obama & Clinton as clueless
as NED in the Third Reader. . as is TIM KAINE, calling for
GUN CONTROL in the recent case of the JIHADIST who used a
car and a knife as weapons to attack people. It was the
POLICE OFFICER who used a GUN to neutralize the JIHADIST.

Frankly, even ROMNEY might have done at least a passable
job of seat-warming better than either of them.

BO released those GITMO terrorists without informing Congress. I believe that I read that this was breaking the law. He has been the absolute most secretive president in my lifetime. How about the most recent secret deal with Austrailia to bring those unwanted refugees to the US? He is delusional and thinks everyone is as stupid as those who love him and think he’s great.

The sad irony is that we’re reading this on the 75th anniversary of the Pearl Harbor disaster.

That information doesn’t mean anything, it doesn’t work if the people’s representatives in Congress don’t do their jobs, if they’re not paying attention. (emphasis mine)

And who, pray tell, gets to decide if they're doing their jobs or not?

Sometimes, NOT passing some legislation is in itself part of being a legislator.

There doesn't have to be a straight up or down vote on every damn thing, nor should there be.

Suppose Congress passes a law that says chimpanzees have human rights. Well, what about gorillas? Orangutans? Monkeys? Dogs? Cats? Fish? The Ebola virus? If they even go down that road, wouldn't they have to then enumerate ALL the various organisms on Earth?

So they don't go down that road.

Obama wants more gun control, but the American people do not. They elect representatives that do not want it also. The representatives pass no new laws, as the people who elected didn't want any.

Then Obama says since they didn't pass a law he wanted--but they did not want to pass--they weren't doing their job and therefore he gets to sign an Executive Order making the law so?

No.

That is a tyranny if it is allowed.

Under Obama, yes, since he’s not likely to change them. Trump may keep some policies in place, but I doubt the entire framework will remain. This is mostly a BS symbolic move that means nothing in the grand scheme, but it allows him another talking point to brag about once he’s gone.

He talks about “transparency” while sealing ALL his personal records.

We STILL do not know anything about this guy.

1. Why did he release a forged birth certificate to the White House website.
2. When did he legally change his name from Barry Soetero to Barack Obama?
3. When did he register for the draft?
4. How did he get a social security number from Connecticut, a state he had never lived in?
5. Did he go to college as a foreign student?

So much for transparency. I could go on and on.

Since he can’t pardon himself, I hope he will be prosecuted after Trump is sworn in for all of his treasonous actions against the American people. He attempted to destroy America and must, along with Hillary and certain others, pay the price if we are to return to a state of law and order.

We should be so lucky that that is his final words we’ll hear from him. He’ll be mumbling to himself on the way out the door. His last captive audience lol. I feel for those mandated to attend.
