Dreamers can be under the age of 31 and are supposed to have been here since under the age of 16 and lived here continuously for 5 years. They don’t even have to had attended school. I read reports that some were given permits that didn’t qualify because they didn’t have to give any proof of their claims since they were illegal.
I would say that if they had been here since they were young children, younger than 16, and had proof that they had been in school all the time with school records, that would be better.

I agree with you that there has to be some proof that they were brought here at a young age, and it would be good to know if they were in school.

Our immigration system is a mess. If people who are here illegally are putting their children in public schools, why is that allowed? Why wouldn’t they be deported? Is proof of citizenship not needed when applying for public school?
