Fidget spinners are popular new toys, which are made to calm nerves and ease anxiety, that are selling out at stores across the country.
Chances are your child or someone else's has at least one spinner already. They've become so popular that teachers are banning the devices from classrooms, saying they're too distracting.
Here's everything you need to know about the new gadgets.

So, basically, the kids at school just spin these things around?
We did that with Bobby and it didn’t cost us anything but some detention time.
Still got the knots in the back of the head too!
My grandson has all the D’s. ADHD OCD OCPD Conduct Disorder
These have helped him immensely. For some reason they keep him calm when he gets frustrated and/or agitated.
Followers, followers everywhere.
In the 3d printing community, these are a hot topic because they are being printed and sold as fast as the printers can crank them out. The big question is, when will the fad end?
Is this the same as the old “Fidget” advertised on TV from Los Angeles forty four years ago? I remember the sexual innuendoes in the adds with some very sexy woman selling the product. She ended by saying to get one for your man as “It will be the best ten dollar Fidget he ever got!”
Making your own hula-hoop is fun. Look online for how to figure out the size. It’s NOT one-size fits all, but according to your height.
I made a couple for myself. A larger one lets you hoop slower and the smaller they get the faster you have to work at keeping it going.
You use white plastic water pipe from Home Depot and join it with a double-male adapter. Then put stripe(s) of tape around it for friction. It’s a very fun and awesome workout.
I put on some of my favorite music then hoop until I’m tired. I know a bunch of tricks and that really bumps the fun up to another level.
Only thing, you can’t really do it inside a small house. And if there is wind that messes you up. Sure you could do just the waist hooping indoors, but I also use my arms and it’s sometimes spinning above my head and stuff, hence outdoors.
My kid just discovered the Yo-Yo and he loves it. Good to see when kids love the time-tested favorites.
In the olden days a large button was used by us. it had a long thread through two holes, and looped around both thumbs. We would then wind up the string, pull outward with both thumbs and the button would spin and spin, and spin...
Interesting what the older family members used for fun back in the 1930s.
Then there was another, two ropes held by two kids and a sliding can in the middle. Pull the ropes apart, the can slides. Then the other kid pulls his ropes apart and the can slides back...
So in the 1970s some company made them and sold them on TV as the “Husker-du!”. It got boring real fast.
Last week, I read about them in the Wall Street Journal. Last night, two boys at Cub Scouts had them. I assume it's going to get worse before it gets better. However, given the half-life of fads these days, it will probably be gone before activities start up again in September.
I remember the button thing.
Wait till they rediscover the Pet Rock!
Fidget cubes look pretty cool, too.
I loved making those as a kid!
Every grandparent’s going to be hit up for this one... a new ‘tickle me Elmo’ fad...
