What's your style of Glock-Fu?
Am Shooting Journal ^ | 6/30/2017 | J Hines

So in the concealed and open carry world most firearms schools teach the two common techniques while drawing and firing the pistol. That is, the isosceles and the weaver method. But in reality and humorous is that everyone has a way of swaggering their body language into their style of shooting.

The folks from Knockout Lights have observed these common positions that most fall into and here they are:

  1. The Instructor
  2. The Bowler
  3. Fishing
  4. The Chicken Wing Draw
  5. Gangsta
  6. Six Position draw
  7. Isosceles armor facing forward
  8. The Cross dominant Eye
  9. The Lean Forward Speed Shooter
  10. The I've put on a "Few Pounds Fanny Pack"
  11. Mossad Condition 3
  12. C.A.R.
  13. Minus the Ceiling Tiles - don't know knife & gun - its a head scratcher for us too
  14. The Speed Shooter
  15. The Gross Motor Skills guy
  16. The Flagger
Ok, you just read about it, so you gotta see the Glock-Fu footage here to get a sense of the body language, its a hoot. Which one are you?

The sad truth is most CCW don’t know their draw style.

BECAUSE THEY DON’T PRACTICE THEIR DRAW!

That’s a lie. You know they all reenact the mirror scene from Taxi Driver every night!

Every public range I’ve ever patronized forbids holster practice. Too many people have been hurt.

I’ve been through a dozen tactical pistol training courses ranging from $100 for a few hours to $1500 for a weekend, and they all teach you proper draw techniques for most situations. I can’t recommend these courses enough.

Just make sure they’re taught by someone who knows what they’re doing. Don’t look exclusively for the “NRA Instructor” certification. The best courses I’ve attended were taught by former military and LEO.

My 2 fav ranges only require that they review your draw technique and only OWB holsters.

If you watch YouTube gun channels, make sure to watch their parody video. The Hickock45 impersonation by an Eastern European is hilarious.

Nothing matters more than placing your shots in the X ring as quickly as possible, everything else is BS.
