OOps. Misread it, sorry. I never watch those two teams so, I am clueless. And now, I never watch any of the other teams in the NFL either.

I wonder if any of those Ravens have a clue that the Star Spangled Banner was written about the British attempt to seize Baltimore by military force?

As someone on Howie Carr pointed out today - they honor the ruler of the country which originally brought slavery to these shores before we were even a country, then dishonor the country that lost half a million souls to end slavery.....

Not quite, son!

Your idiots, your problem. The UK (and Canada) already have enough of our own idiots already!

What’s with the guy kneeling and putting his hand over his heart? What message is he trying to send?

You forget that the push to abolish slavery began in England and Scotland with men like John Newton and William Wilberforce. Trade in slaves was abolished by the UK, enforced around the world by the Royal Navy beginning in 1807. The US followed suit effective January 1, 1808. Of course with 4 million slaves in the South, they had enough ‘breeding stock’ that new slaves were not needed for replenishment. Also, they did not want to risk a fight with the RN.

Slavery in the UK ended in 1833 but it took the deaths of almost a million Americans to end it in the US.

For me, it’s not a decision, just a reaction. I actually tuned in to Sunday Night Football, then turned it off to wait out the Anthem folderol, turned it back on and they were still going great guns on the subject ... Forget it!

I wouldn’t start in with that. The kneeling only means that they decline to stand and respect the flag, for protest or whatever. That’s the issue.

There’s about a 30 year difference between what Great Britain did and what the US did when it comes to ending the slave trade and slavery in general. Hardly makes a difference although Brits wrap themselves up in the Union Jack when squawking about their fight against the peculiar institution. They are only 30 years better than America and we lost close to one million men in ending it.

“My Country ‘Tis of Thee”

Golly! I haven’t thought of that song for years! Just sang it and remember all the words. We used to sing that when I was in grade school (that’s elementary school, for you youngsters here).

That is correct. They are worse than the enemy who killed this soldier. They're traitors!!! His blood cries out from the ground against them:

Ditto.

Would have been funny had they sat during that though. They don’t have the courage to do that. This is just a following the herd move. Easy to be PC when you risk nothing.

several members of the Baltimore Ravens and Jacksonville Jaguars knelt during the "Star-Spangled Banner," but stood during Britain's "God Save the Queen." Almost all of the Jags' on-field and sideline personnel could be seen locking arms during the American national anthem, including owner Shad Khan. Some players stood while others knelt. Footage showed several Ravens also kneeling for the anthem, which was penned in their home city by Francis Scott Key in 1814.
Thanks 2ndDivisionVet.

That is the point exactly! The British abolished it through the efforts of strong Christians (and others), peaceably via legislation. Many so called Southern US 'Christian' preachers used the OT and NT regulation of slavery as justification of slavery, so it took a MASSIVE war to end it.

The point is nonexistent except to overly pompous and ignorant Brits who barely know their own disgusting history in the Caribbean. The abolitionist movement in America was entirely due to religious leaders and their congregations fighting against the institution. The Beecher-Stowe family, for instance. Many of them created and worked in the underground railway movement.
