LV Shooter Didnt Act Alone–FBI States Multiple Leads Around The World–Paddock Planned Jet Fuel Blast

More news is coming out this morning on Stephen Paddocks, and it is not as cut and dried as I thought. This is a very complex case, and it seems everyone is reporting different aspects of the worst mass shooting in the history of the United States.

Paddocks did not act alone. FBI reports there are many significant leads around the world with many flights taken by more than one person all over the world. Possibly, and this is just my opinion, many of Paddocks gambling trips could have been a cover for arms deals and terrorist connections. Was he gunrunner who sold guns to jihadists? The attack could have been worse. Paddocks targeted aviation tanks with the intention of blowing them up causing a massive fuel blast. http://content.jwplatform.com/previews/MyWNxdjC-np6v9i2TLas Vegas Strip mass murderer Stephen Paddock used his Mandalay Bay hotel room to fire bullets at jet fuel tanks Sunday night, a knowledgeable source told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The bullets left two holes in one of two circular white tanks. One of the bullets penetrated the tank, but did not cause a fire or explosion near the Route 91 Harvest country music festival, another knowledgeable source said late Wednesday. The tanks are roughly 1,100 feet from the concert site, where Paddock killed 58 people and wounded almost 500. Several airplane hangars belonging to prominent corporations are also near the tanks.

Of all the hundreds of thousands of rounds spread across however many blocks and just two ended up hitting the tanks. Uh, no, he wasn’t aiming at the tanks. If he’d wanted to blow them up, there would be countless holes in them. They’ll be finding random chinks in buildings from this for the next 20 years.

I think over time it will be shown that this guy WAS working with ISIS. It may or may not ever come out. ISIS is never this insistent on their link claims.

Call comes across the police radio,

“He’s shooting at the fuel tanks!”

What happens next?

Sometimes the obvious play isn’t the real play.

Well, sure, if you can get enough of it to evaporate into an enclosed space.

That’s why it’s used as a combustible fuel.

But pouring it on a small flame will put the flame out like water. I speak from personal experience. I’ve found that if I really have to get something going, I mix a little gasoline (and it doesn’t take much) into it.

"...jet fuel isn’t that easy to ignite."

Ha! I used to test-run jet engines - one guy was smoking a butt next to a 5 gal. pail full of fuel, no big deal - a "brand new" Engineer went to the boss yelling about "safety!" and a possible "explosion!".
We were in tears - it was hilarious.

He probably didn’t bring in a Barrett because unlike the other rifles he used, a Barrett isn’t that easy to hide in a suitcase. It’s long, heavy, and very definitely not shaped like a set of golf clubs.

I agree (and independently theorized) that the shots at the tanks were an attempt to blow them as a distraction to cover his escape, and that his cache of Tannerite might have even been intended as an accelerator. I further think that his inability to blow them is what drove him to suicide in a panic when he realized he didn’t have a Plan B. Apparently, the tanks were deliberately targeted; they were the reason he broke out the second window in his suite as it was a better sightline to them from that second window.

He didn’t plan it or didn’t plan it well. He hit them a couple of times with rounds or accidently did so. If he had planned it, he would have known a couple of bullets wouldn’t do it.

Would like to know what drugs are/were in his system. I think he would have needed a rush to pull this off.

Someone on TV said that if he were actually targeting the tank, there would have been lots more rounds hitting it - chalked it up to the point and spray effect. I tend to agree - if he wanted it to blow, it would make more sense to empty a whole magazine into it.

Correct. With the right bullet it would penetrate and ignite.

What fills the empty space as they drain the fuel from the tank?

Air.

These tanks are made from a very heavy steel with the expectation nobody would actually SHOOT one of them.

But you can darn near count on that being an ingredient of the next attack.

.50 cal into a darn-near empty fuel tank.

Wow. Most of us knew from the first report he didn’t act alone. Why are ordinary people so much smarter than our so-called superiors investigating and governing?

It is very difficult to ignite.

Ever hear of a Fuel-Air explosive?

Fuel air explosions are very finicky. The air fuel ratio is critical to the yield or even an explosion at all. Jet A, JP-4 and JP-5 can put out a match without burning, even in the open ambient air.

I think if he was really interested in starting a conflagration he would have used AP and tracers.

I'll buy the theory that the hits on the tanks were overshoots in the absence of some incendiary shot evidence.

“The deal went sideways and the guy was killed.”

That is so funny given what has been reported as fact:

1. Paddock opened fire for about ten minutes, before an unarmed security guard located the room, and tried to enter, but the door was barricaded.

2. Paddock shot the security guard through the door, wounding him in the leg.

3. The wounded security guard then radioed LEO while remaining on the floor.

4. When LEO approached the room, they were met by 200 rounds through the door, and backed away until a SWAT team could be deployed.

5. When the SWAT team busted through the barricaded doors, they allegedly found Paddock dead on the floor.

For your theory to be true, the person who killed Paddock would have had to unbarricade the door, step over the wounded security guard, and then slip by the LEO positioned in the hallway to make an escape down the stairway.

I think his plan was to shoot the tanks, drive the people towards him at the Mandalay, then shoot his car with 50lb of tannerite and kill more from that explosion. Another idea is that he intended to shoot the car and use that as a diversion to escape.

Sort of hard to shoot his car when it was in the opposite direction of the tanks and on the other side of Mandalay from his room.

“Those tanks are designed for a .30-06 shot at 100yds. He wasn’t even close.”

Can you help with a reference for that?

that’s pretty weak in the era of .338 mag and .50
