I think you’ve said it best of all.
Perhaps the media does get it (who knows?) but they want to assure the rest of America that Trump cannot be taken seriously.
I’ve personally loved Trump’s style from the beginning. I had no idea (and I am a Manhattanite) that he was so funny.

I think you're onto something there.
I laugh at how Trump plays the media like a fiddle by simply saying things in a way that will get his message to his supporters and to those he negotiates with, the media seems so perplexed, so anxious and depressed flailing away, they don't have a clue how hard we are laughing at them.
