The Second Amendment is being challenged as we speak. You may not read that from most publications, but this is the way I see it. Deerfield, Illinois has banned assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. You are probably asking, will it hold up in court?
Your answer is, yes. The Deerfield ordinance is based on one adopted in Highland Park, Illinois. It was challenged in the court system, and it held up. The courts found it to be a reasonable restriction to the Second Amendment in compliance with set Constitutional standards.

The State Controlled Media will never let us know about the non-compliance.
Deerfield is VERY liberal and it’s unlikely any of the males living there have guns to begin with. Same with Highland Park.
That’s a very good point. It ain’t fly-over country.
Well it seems that the second amendment was put in place to reign in an out of control government. If the government was out of control, I would expect the judicial part of it to rule against the plain text of the Constitution.
Lock and load is also plain text. It seem with Russia on the rise, now is a particularly stupid time for our government to start a civil war. But dictatorships are rather stupid as history shows.
Anybody taking part in the gun confiscations should be tried for treason when sanity once again reigns in America.
Illinois is going full blown communist, like NY, CA, MA, CT, NJ.
"The 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals held that legislation constitutional and the U.S. Supreme Court let the decision stand when it declined to take up the appeal.
there probably wont be much of any kind of any lawsuits against the ordinance unless the NRA wants to get involved, which is doubtful considering they already have enough on their plate

1. The decision relies on an irrelevant test:
possession...is not necessary to the preservation or efficiency of a well-regulated militia...
and thus serves as an unauthorized amendment to the U.S. Constitution (and perhaps that of Illinois).
(Will stipulate it would be helpful to read the dissent of the federal court decision of this case.)
2. What could the NRA have on its plate more important than formally opposing such a direct infringement that is nothing less than a ban?
“Deerfield is VERY liberal and its unlikely any of the males living there have guns to begin with. Same with Highland Park.”
How about the likelihood any of the females living there have guns to begin with? Any speculation on that?
This is part of a national campaign. It appears to be succeeding.
Laws mean whatever the Leftists want them to mean and they will not be restrained by Constitutional measures or facts.
Lock and Load.
It sounds to me like a good place to start up a lucrative home invasion business. Hopefully, this will provide the overflow of south side Chicago inner city residents a friendly, welcoming place with lots of easy money opportunities.
I grew up in Highland Park and can attest to it’s over-the-edge brand of liberalism. My daughter still lives there and calls the town “the bubble” because of the sense of unreality prevalent. If I remember correctly, HP passed its assault weapons” ban during a ten-day window that was allowed when the state’s preemption law went into effect. I could be wrong but it appears to me that this Deerfield law is, or should be, not in compliance with the same preemption law. There is a movement in Springpatch to repeal the preemption law so to make the current concealed-carry law unenforceable.
Q: If I own 18 firearms, and the Deerfeild City Council bans 7 of them, along with the 10 “hi-cap” magazines that go with them, how many do I still own?
A: All of them
So what happens if I live in Deerfield and buy a full auto w the required federal stamp tax. Im federally legal and registered. Under federal law, do I have to turn it in?
Are there gun registration laws there that say you have to tell the city how many and what kind you have? Without adequate registration you can never have a clear idea of how many weapons are in the area
If you think liberals dont own guns you need to revisit the YouTube HQ shooting just the other day.
I suggest they start kicking in doors and ransacking houses to find them all!
So..everyone turned their weapons in. And everything is great now......
How many people trust any level of government to tell them what level of need they have to protect themselves ? The individual has a right to self defense and determining what is required to fill that need is his. I see few who worry about personal safety giving up what they truly feel they need to feel safe.
Apart from the hordes of snowflake voters, of course, very few. Certainly not those who drafted and ratified the U.S. Constitution for the benefit of all future generations.
(Thank you for the softball question.) {;^)
Fixed it.
And get the little lawyers, too. (WWW- Wicked Witch of the West voice)
"..Without adequate registration you can never have a clear idea of how many weapons are in the area.."
Fixed that one as well while I had the wrenches out.
Behind every blade of grass and all, ya know. d;^)

Cant do that in Illinois. Full auto is banned except for LE.
