NFL Draft: Getting Stupid

Posted on 04/24/2018 11:44:33 AM PDT by DIRTYSECRET

Chewbagga and R2-D2 get to announce the 49ers pick. As Mike Maycock said "This is the biggest event in the players lives and you gotta do this?" He threatened to walk out. Why the NFL has to go there is beyond me. Milk everything they can for this event to the point of getting stupid.

Since football fans are abandoning them in droves, the NFL is trying to reach out to a new audience.

I'll bet the player selected will still be pretty happy regardless of who reads the pick.

Well, happy until they decide that the world is rotten and they need to kneel in angry protest. But happy in that one short moment at least.

Seems appropriate since SF has been its own planet for decades.

I can honestly say that for the first time in my husband’s life, and the first time in my life since I married him, neither one of us give a rat’s behind about the NFL draft.

That being said, I find it funny that they are resorting to a side show.

In my opinion it’s been a sideshow for years. It’s 95% side, 5% show.

Are they talking about the Star Wars creatures or Michele Obama and somebody else?

I enjoy the annual replenishment of rosters. Sure, the selected player will be happy and he’ll go along with the sideshow. I’d love to see a selected player shake the commissioners hand while wearing handcuffs. It’s legalized slavery my friends. Instant millionaires and the showing off all the ‘family structure’ in black players(mostly) lives.

Legalized Slavery LOL.

Well, Jesse Jackson said something about how picking cotton or picking up footballs or basketballs is the same fundamental process..

Jesse Jackson knows his market. How do you think he got so rich?

I read on Drudge yesterday that an Amazon Parrot is going to be making a few draft announcements later this week.
My first reaction was , why? Why mess around with finding out who gets the multi-million dollar contracts?
Who knows, next year it might be The Hamburglar or Stormy Daniels making those announcements.

I was going to suggest Colin Kaepernick alone, but adding MO is even better.

So why is it that the marketeers have to throw us a curve constantly and distract it’s most loyal fans? The DH is a stupid joke. Affirmative Action for those half-a-ball player types. There’s hope. Baseball stadiums are getting smaller and more intimate. Marketing would suggest only so many can afford the prices.

Will the Grim Reaper read the Browns’ pick or just point his cold, bony finger at the victim?

>>YAWN, BOYCOTT<<

Heck I never watched it even BEFORE I boycotted.

They can try to gin up all the dram in the word — 90% of the draftees won’t play for 2-3 years and most of the REAL trading will happen in the next few months.

Just like basketball, the fundamental skills of the individuals have deteriorated so badly they could not compete even 20 years ago.

The Mouse pays the NFL over a billion dollars a year. They paid 4 billion dollars for Star Wars. If they wanna cross promote they get to cross promote.

It really has. Even without all of the anthem shenanigans, the bottom line is that the quality of play in the NFL has really declined. Too many teams thin out the quality.
