Ironically, if the Dems had killed Kavanaugh with kindness and taken Susan Collins’s tack of painting him as a moderate, I’da not been defending the guy very much.

They coulda come up with some flimsy excuse not to vote for him, we’d complain, and we would have all ended up at the same place. EXCEPT...in that case the conservative vote woulda been depressed instead of energized like it is now.
