A short while ago the military seemed to side with Maduro:
Maduros response has been to cut diplomatic ties with the United States and order our diplomats out of the country within 72 hours. But if we no longer recognize Maduro as the countrys president, why would we heed his demands regarding our diplomats?
This sets up the next possible confrontation. Will Maduro and the military attempt to physically remove our diplomats? And, if so, how will the U.S. respond? Frankly, Id be more worried about Maduros regime hitting them with a bunch of false charges and imprisoning them than putting them on a plane back to the U.S. It wouldnt be the first time Maduro had sent his political opponents to a military prison.

Of course they do...
They are getting fed, and the officers don’t want to shot by a firing squad.
Ain’t Socialism GRAND?
“Will Maduro and the military attempt to physically remove our diplomats?”
No, but they are no longer considered diplomats and will lose their diplomatic immunity.
The same goes for their diplomats in the US..
The average soldier isn’t doing that well.
The senior generals are the regime. If they lose, they die or if lucky go to prison or Cuba. The question is will the mid level and junior officers stay loyal and if they do will the rank and file who probably are no longer being paid in hard currency fight and die for the senior officers and regime. Its easy to issue a statement but if they are held personally accountable for any harm to Americans, not certain if they will really stay and fight. Things should get interesting in the next 72 hours.
Have seen leftist tweets already blaming Trump for anything that happens to our diplomats there.
Venezuelan officers are a very different bunch than their EMs though.
Can’t the US embassy folks declare themselves “dreamers” and be excluded from all immigration laws?
And even get free Venezuelan food, housing, education, medical care, etc.?
“Frankly, Id be more worried about Maduros regime hitting them with a bunch of false charges and imprisoning them than putting them on a plane back to the U.S. It wouldnt be the first time Maduro had sent his political opponents to a military prison.”
Well, Mike Pompeo isn’t worried:
Pompeo warned the Venezuelan military and security forces not to attempt to remove the diplomats by force or retaliate over their refusal. We call on all parties to refrain from measures that are inconsistent with the privileges and immunities enjoyed by members of the diplomatic community, he said. The United States will take appropriate actions to hold accountable anyone who endangers the safety and security of our mission and its personnel.
translation of Pompeos diplomatic statement into the vernacular:
We double-dog dare you to touch a single hair on a single one of our diplomats ... were just itching for a excuse to send in troops to rescue any hostages ...
I’m not buying this..seems like a plant story.

When they get overthrown they may get shot for being on the side of evil. They should think about that instead of cowering to the evil.
Any Aircraft Carrier Battle Groups on the way?
And MARGs, MEUs, whatever they’re calling them these days. An LHD and embarked Marine battalion.
You left out Xi and Little Kim!
Getting shot later likely sounds a lot better than getting shot right now.
