Pelosi can best be understood in Freudian terms. She views Trump subconsciously as a father figure. Her own father was at his core a corrupt, brutal, selfish thug. Nancy no doubt had some deep , negative feelings toward him and at the least believed his own father should be punished and placed in prison. Yet “impeachment” would be the equivalent of death. While Nancy wanted her own father put safely away where he could do her primarily no more harm, she was not quite ready or comfortable with the patricide of impeachment. If the rabid Democrats want to move her toward impeachment, they ought to arrange for her to visit her father’s grave a few times. No telling what some graveside rage may do.

And this was the real purpose of Pelosi's call for Trump's imprisonment. As the transgressions of Obama, Clinton, & Co. are understood by the general public, there will undoubtedly be increased calls for prosecution of them. Pelosi is looking to forestall this.
