“Also, does suicide void a life insurance policy?”

I am pretty sure it does. Life insurance does not pay if the person commits suicide,

But he had a lot of money, so his heirs would still get plenty.

Alex Trebek has life insurance policies for $9.99 per month.

Billionaires prefer it.

there may be a period of exclusion (like first 2-3 years of the policy) or outright prohibition but some policies do cover even for suicide

Did Aretha Franklin draw up his will?

Only for the first 2 years, is suicide excluded in life insurance policies. After 2 years, it would pay.

Some states require paying a life insurance claim if the policy had been held for sevens years or longer.

Life insurance policy pays out on suicide after the policy has been in force for at least 2 years

But we all know that the government will try get as much as they can as well as anyone claiming abuse etc.

The heirs need the leverage to place the blame for his death on the government.

Yes, Epstein was a very bad dude and hurt a lot of people.

But the federal government constantly lies to the people, and has hurt many many more people than Epstein.

It doesn’t. You just need to have it for a period of time then you’re OK to kill yourself

In College Business Law 20+ years ago, the answer was they’d pay for suicide if it occurred more than 2 years after the policy started, unless there was no other exclusion.

Who knows now?

Life insurance does not pay if the person commits suicide,
_____________________________________________________________
I’m told that is only if the suicide occurs relatively soon after taking out the policy. We have experts here who can comment, but I think long-held Universal Life-type policies do pay the death benefit even in suicide after the insured has owned/paid into and built up cash value long enough.

2 year suicide clause. If you off yourself 2+ years after taking out the policy it pays out. Standard in the industry.

Could they collect via a wrongful death suit, for letting him commit suicide in circumstances where they were supposed to actively prevent such?

There is generally a 2-year exclusionary period on life insurance policies, after which, yes, benefits will be paid after a suicide.

Only within the first two years of when the policy was issued. After that most policies assume you did not buy them in expectation of committing suicide.
