While there might have been a time I would face someone in a fair fight, I have learned that level-headed reasoning (one on one) is the preferable course of action. I feel I have preserved life and foregone injury with this approach during my life...
That said, I am now much (much) older, with a variety of health and age-related issues. I know I cannot go 1-on-1 with a young man anymore, much less a gang of them. Therefore, I won't hesitate to deploy an equalizer in these cases, as I would rather be judged in the light of day than buried without taking a few with me...
