There’s an effort to get me fired at Cornell for criticizing the Black Lives Matter Movement
Legal Insurrection ^ | 11 June 2019 | William A Jacobson

...Or if not fired, at least publicly denounced by the law school. Student groups plan to demand the law school “critically examine the views of the people they employ as professors of the law.”

There is an effort underway to get me fired at Cornell Law School, where I’ve worked since November 2007, or if not fired, at least denounced publicly by the school.

Ever since I started Legal Insurrection in October 2008, it’s been an awkward relationship given the overwhelmingly liberal faculty and atmosphere. Living as a conservative on a liberal campus is like being the mouse waiting for the cat to pounce.

For over 12 years, the Cornell cat did not pounce. Though there were frequent and aggressive attempts by outsiders to get me fired, including threats and harassment, it always came from off campus.

I made great efforts to keep this website separate from my work. I did not write about Cornell that frequently, and rarely about the law school itself. Nonetheless, the website and my political views were the elephant in every room, because the website is widely read, particularly by non-liberal students.Over the years, many students approached me privately and behind closed doors to express gratitude that someone was able to speak up, because they remained politically silent out of fear of social ostracization with the related possible career damage from falsely being accused of one of the “-ists” or “-isms.”

What an erosion of America. I start reading the FreeRepublic board and it’s one article after another pointing to the erosion of the US towards socialism. Today this article, plus soccer wanting to kneel, plus nobody is cleaning up Seattle, plus banning the Confederate flag and wanting to tear down Washington and Jefferson statues, etc. It’s a slow creep and it will NOT go away. Further, the radicals have now won corporate support and greater public sympathy.

So is there any push back? Not if people’s jobs are threatened. The Republican politicians have to take action. If they don’t push back, I feel many people will want the insanity to end by not voting for Trump and appeasing the Democrats, who are causing most of the problems. People need leadership or they will get disheartened. This is extraordinary times — not a time to think let the Democrats/radicals hang themselves with their own rope. Silence is not a good tactic as the country gets worse.

There’s an effort to dumb down universities.

It’s called the Black Lives Matters movement.

(And there’s an effort to make black lives not matter. It’s also called the Black Lives Matters movement.)

And Trump is holding WAY back because Prince Jared told him cracking down will cost him the phantom Black vote he's convinced the POTUS he will get.

Far above Cayuga's waters

There she stands Cornell

That smell is not Cayuga's waters

That smell is Cornell.

Black Lives Matters movement.
= = =
Whenever I see the letters BM and movement, I get a little smile.

The allegory fits them well.

Except it has gone to full blown diarrhea, with no end in sight.

This started happening to me when I joined Free Republic back in 1998. Couldn’t get much help. I truly understand and am sorry you’re going through this. Conservatives are just not in to forming crowds and backing people off. I tried to get support before...doesn’t work.

“It’s a slow creep and it will NOT go away.”

Slow? It’s been a blitzkrieg!

We’re not even putting up a retreat, it’s a slaughter.

Well it’s not like Cornell doesn’t turn out a pack of self important pricks every May. I was a National Merit Semi-Finalist, class president from a highly competitive prep school, distinguished athlete and published researcher from work done in a NASA internship. I didn’t bother to complete my application after my visit and interview with an alumni. Sorry for your plight but it’s hardly surprising.

Yes, recently a blitzkrieg! But the take over of institutions have been going for some time. The sad thing now is that the corporate world — not defending capitalism from the communist BLM radicals — have joined in on their side. And the public is following like sheep too.

There is approved language and approved thought. Since you cannot possibly know what upsets me until after you do it, you’re better off saying/doing absolutely nothing.

My son went to Cornell.

I can attest to the LIEberal hateful atmosphere.

At his commencement ceremony, the guest speaker was - no joke - Plugs Biden.

Hearing his speech only increased my disdain for this man’s views.

The Left has embraced the Nazi approach to the debate over the function of Government. Ideas are not discussed. Mass intimidation has replaced reasoned discussion.

The sad thing now is that the corporate world — not defending capitalism from the communist BLM radicals — have joined in on their side.

Much of big business will be perfectly happy to be coopted. This is how fascism operates. Business accepts being the junior partner in return for protected markets and a stable, regulated profit. All they have to do is support the party line and provide enough high paying jobs for grifter pols, their family members and their associates.

At some point, the grifter element becomes large enough that the parasite kills the host.

There is also the risk that the activists, having consolidated a fascist and one-party system with no effective opposition, will take the big step to outright expropriation, at which point business becomes the enemy and the party reaches out to control everything.

"criticizing the Black Lives Matter Movement"

BLM and Antifa are the same thing. BLM is the branch/label you cannot criticize without being called racist.

Perhaps Trump could think of the people that put him into the White House instead?

“The sad thing now is that the corporate world — not defending capitalism from the communist BLM radicals — have joined in on their side.”

They’re doing out of self preservation . For the most part corporations are apolitical. They put their fingers up in the air and see which way the political winds are blowing and that’s the side they support.

Today this is their choice - pay lip service to BLM and the anarchists and gain a bit of time or get their place burned and looted and the CEO tarred and feathered.

They pay absolutely no price for not supporting our side. They know we’re not going to set their places on fire.

Given those realities if you were the CEO what would you do?

They’ll always come down with the political side that would cause them the most grief.

Until we learn to play that bare knuckle game, we’ll be in the losing end.
