When Gwen Berry stood on the podium to be recognized for her third-place finish in the hammer throw at the U.S. track and field Olympic Trials on June 26, she said she was shocked to hear The Star-Spangled Banner played.
In response to the national anthem, Berry turned away from the American flag and placed her t-shirt, which read “Activist Athlete”, over her head. She later said she felt “set up,” because the athletes had previously been told that the anthem would be played either before or after their medal ceremony.
The protest drew backlash from conservatives like Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R- Texas), who said on Fox News that Berry should be removed from the U.S. Olympic Team, even though the USOPC decided in December that athletes who peacefully protest or demonstrate at the Tokyo Olympics will not be punished.
“I never said that I didn’t want to go to the Olympic Games,” Berry said in an interview on the Black News Channel. “I never said that I hated the country. All I said was I respect my people enough to not stand or acknowledge something that disrespects them. I love my people point blank, period.”
However, as USA Supreme first reported photos from Berry’s own website reveal that here Anthem/flag protest is nothing but a PR stunt!

After this news broke out Barry decided to delete the website but luckily we have a print screen from her website as a proof of her hypocrisy:
What happened and why Barry changes her stance from pro-American to anti-American we can only guess!
However, it turns out that Barry is sponsored by groups who advocate defunding and abolishing the police.
Color of Change, the racial justice group that has bankrolled Berry since September of 2020, applauded her “leadership” on the podium, FOX News reported.
“We’re proud to sponsor [Berry], to have negotiated a sponsorship with @PUMA and to continue to push corporations to support Black athletes who speak out for our communities. Grateful for Gwen’s leadership today and every day,” the organization tweeted.
Berry responded in a tweet with her thanks and a raised fist emoji.
Color of Change is a strong advocate of defunding the police, FOX News reported.
“Policing is a violent institution that must end,” Color of Change President Rashad Robinson said in a press release when the Minneapolis City Council voted to abolish the city’s police department in June of 2020 after George Floyd died as he was being arrested by the Minneapolis police.
“We imagine a country where there is enough money to educate our children, care for our sick and feed those who are financially unstable,” Robinson said. “Defunding the police allows for this vision.”
“This is not a time for tweaking or tinkering – it’s time to start over,” he continued. “Minneapolis has taken the first step towards remaking public safety in a way that protects black lives and invests in black and brown communities. We hope cities across the country follow.”
The press release said Color of Change supported the Minneapolis plan to do away with the police department and said they hoped the move would inspire the nation.
Color of Change has active defund-the-police petitions circulating at both the national and local levels, FOX News reported.

A set-up...enough so that she felt compelled to carry a virtue signaling t-shirt with her to the third place podium. Just in case...
She mentions she is united with “her people”, meaning Black people. Many Blacks generally do not want to assimilate then they complain that they are treated differently. Odd.
It’s evidenced by their voting “block”, I think they feel that they need to vote as a Block, like a union. As if they all have the same opinions on everything. I feel they would do much better forgetting about skin color and think as Americans and unite as Americans. 50 years of this sticking together mentality has made things worse, not better.

Well, it’s good to see someone who can throw a shot put as well as the average 18 year old boy get some attention.
That flag she tossed aside and covered her face from during the playing of the national anthem, is an example of cowardise at its best.
Maybe she should look at the thousands of black military members that served proudly with this country and proudly saluted that flag and that national anthem she removed and disdained. In the army starting in WW I, there were four divisions, five non divisional units, to include the US Military Academy Cavalry Squadron, 32 field artillery regiments or battalions, 11 tank destroyer units, and an entire fighter group in the AAC. The marines had two defense battalions while the Navy Seabees featured two ships and 10 battalions. All these were intermingled or all black in some instances.
All this in just two pieces of the military puzzle. But there’s something else she fails to understand in her blind stupidity. There have been 33 awards of the US Congressional Medal of Honor to black servicemen and women since the start of WW I. And more before that. I’d be interested to see just how crass she would be talking to member of their families.
