Once upon a time, this neighborhood used to be home to high end retail merchants. The Magnificent Mile is in a serious state of decline with numerous vacant stores.

Mayor Johnson has been totally silent about the bloodshed that has occurred this weekend.

C'mon man! The weekend's not over.

He'll make a statement when it's done and the carnage is officially tallied.

Doesn’t Chicago have laws that require long guns be limited to 10 rounds per magazine, and handguns cannot have more than 15 rounds?

So, the perp must have had plenty of magazines and time to change them out when needed? Or maybe multiple guns. I assume he was transporting them according to applicable gun transport laws. Or, is it possible he disobeyed the gun laws and had large capacity magazines in his possession? Surely not! I would think the perp was diligent in obeying all gun laws when chasing down and shooting his victim. /s

This means everyone in Alabama is going to have to give up his/her BB guns.

Chicago makes me smile and sometimes even laugh out loud.
I live in an Arizona border county where I know the nearest law enforcement officer is at a minimum an hour away. We ain’t shootin & killin each other like them ‘unarmed’ folks in Chicago do. We live with human & drug smugglers every day and we ain’t even shooting them.
I can’t help but wonder if demographics has anything to do with it.
From Wikipedia:
“The racial makeup of the county was 76.7% White, 4.5% Black or African American, 1.2% Native American, 1.7% Asian, 0.3% Pacific Islander, 12.1% from other races, and 3.7% from two or more races. 30.7% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. 25.4% reported speaking Spanish at home, while 1.3% speak German.”
Naa. It must be that we have better gun control.

I read once that, in Singapore, if a criminal fires a gun at another person during a crime then it is considered as murder. Simply missing one’s target does not change the intent, and the crime is murder, which then has the death penalty as a result.

Thanks for posting from CWB.

Not much REAL journalism in Chicago.

And what there is, is citizen journalism.

I have spent weeks visiting the Magnificent Mile. I haven’t been there for a number of years, now.

My favorite restaurant closed down on that Mile, due to COVID restrictions, in my humble opinion. I saw from afar as their website mentioned they were closing, and had closed. The site was kept up for about a year after it closed, then it disappeared, along with my desire to revisit the city.

It was a wonderful place to visit, but everything has gone downhill so far, that I figure Chicago is really just eight years behind San Francisco, on the destitute scale.

As someone else said, “If you give a conservative a pile of bricks, they make a city. If you give a liberal a city, they tear it down to bricks.”

wow, sorry to see the decline.

I lived in Chicago many years ago. I recall the Magnificent Mile and Water Tower Place as being home to luxury retail. Definitely an upscale part of town at that time.

"Mayor Johnson has been totally silent about the bloodshed that has occurred this weekend."

It seems to me that Chicago doesn't have a Mayor. The
person currently occupying the office of Mayor is only
only posing as mayor of Chicago. He's only in the position
of Mayor to get what he can from the office while
pretending to be acting as a mayor. Just like the
the previous freak-zoid before him.
