But, but, but...this is the way Science works. If you have a bad paper, investigators will either confirm or deny the contents of that paper. One doesn't actually need to retract said bad paper. One only needs to make sure that the literature promote the accurate information, and properly declare the bad paper as bunk.
If the original bad paper was falsified for any reason, that needs to come out so that other publications from the same author can be given the proper amount of salt.
