I just got an update from my daughter in law about Allie.
Here is what I heard.
Allie smiled today! That can be a very significant development!!!
This all started with the Flu which attacked Allie's heart which reduced the flow of oxygen to her brain which has caused some level of damage.
Doctors were able to remove her breathing tube, so Allie is breathing on her own.
She is still on dialysis and unfortunately not very responsive.
The prognosis for her recovery seems to be better with Allie's appropriate smile. Maybe our prayers can bring Allie to full health.
The damage to her brain that occurred early on is still being determined. So she needs your prayers.
Allie is 4 years old and in Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). She is expected to be in CHOP for at least another two months.
Prayers for Allie and her family are still needed and much appreciated.

(got some good news myself today. cancer scan came out clean. nothing to see! thank you Jesus.)
Children are very resilient. I’ve seen this when I worked in a hospital. Prayers for Allie.

The brain has an amazing way of healing and compensating for what can’t be healed.
Two books you and your daughter-in-law should look into are both by Norman Doidge. The Brain that Changes Itself and The Brain’s Way of Healing.

And younger minds are more adaptable to that kind of change than we older folks, but it’s actually possible at any age.
Hopefully she can get the help she needs to recover.
And prayers up for her complete healing. Thanks for keeping us posted.
FWIW, the healing is God’s doing anyways. That is always the best and default option, but sometimes other methods can help. We still set broken bones and take out a bad appendix.
