Idaho Moves Forward With Plan to Execute Pedophiles

Idaho is moving forward with legislation that would allow the execution of child rapists.

The Idaho Capital Sun reports that the legislation, introduced by Republican lawmakers, will target those who have committed the most serious offenses against children as well as repeat offenders. The bill passed the Idaho House by a 57-11 vote.

The legislation states:

This legislation amends Idaho Codes 18-1508 and 19-2515 to allow a sentence of capital punishment for a person convicted of lewd conduct with a minor, if said minor is under the age of twelve (12) and there are aggravating circumstances. Upon conviction, a jury will make the decision of whether to implement the death penalty. A judge may decide the sentence if a jury is waived by the defendant.

The bill’s co-sponsor, State Rep. Bruce Skaug, said the bill would help protect children against harm.

“There is a deep, dark, dark side in our culture," he said. And it’s our job to protect the children. There are times when things are so wicked that retribution is appropriate."

From my comment, you infer that I love evil? I don’t. I wish everyone could be saved, but they won’t be. I guess it’s just the flesh in me that wants to see evil punished on this earth, knowing that in the end, Jesus will take care of it.

What’s the point? Aren’t these demons taken care of by the prison population?! I would rather pay and have them tormented every day on this earth, then they can go and be tormented for eternity.

The point is both justice and protecting society.

You do realize that God Himself established the death penalty for certain crimes.

The death penalty, when executed properly, is no sin. It does not fall into the category of murder that breaks one of the Ten commandments. Nor are soldiers guilty of murder when enemy combatants are killed.

But castration would not stop the behavior. It’s a mental thing, not a hormonal thing.

Sexual crimes are generally known to not be about sex, but about violence and power. Those people can still abuse others sexually, even if classic rape is off the table.

Why on earth do people think that wanting to see justice done on earth, here and now is fleshly????

God *HATES* injustice. There's no reason for us to not hate it and other sin as well.

Besides, it's our misguided notion of justice, wherein the criminal is not punished appropriately for the crime committed, that has gotten us in to our present state of things.

There is NO legitimate reason that justice cannot be done both here on earth by mankind, as God commanded, and God taking care of it on His end as well.

Mankind executing justice here on earth does not preclude God also doing so later.

“not stop the behavior”

ya .. and that's the thing..
when I think of someone hurting a child I have a hard time even contemplating it rationally.
Anger builds in me to a point I'm not comfortable with.

As you point out, it is about violence and power.
It must be stopped.
I concede that I have no better solution.

Cognitive pre-crime lightning strikes?

or ... stone them at the gate

I understand the desire to crush pedophiles, but I think this movement is short sighted in not considering the weight the child will carry of “having a person killed”. Victims of child sexual abuse spend a lifetime grappling with their memories and complex feelings regarding their perpetrators; knowing their testimony ended a life could be another trauma. If multiple children were victims I could view it is a firing squad scenario where no one carries the full weight of ending a life - maybe that would be less traumatizing…. I don’t know the answer but I don’t think this is well thought out.

I think the child might be greatly comforted knowing the monster is dead and will never, ever hurt them again.

The "victim guilt" about getting their assaulter killed, will only last a generation or 2.

By then the pedos will all be dead or at least have curbed their enthusiasm greatly.

Maybe, but probably not. In the child’s mind the pedo isn’t the only perpetrator. By design, we are meant to be protected as children, so a victim, naturally and often, places more blame on the failure of guardianship than on the end abuse. We can come to terms with “the world is filled with bad people”, but it’s harder to swallow “I wasn’t worth protecting.”

Then the child needs to be counselled that they were not responsible for the perp getting the death penalty because it’s NOT their fault he got it.

The adult is responsible for his own actions and the child needs to know that and that he had NO responsibility in justice being meted out.

Your reasoning that the child would carry guilt for having a person killed is very twisted. I don’t know how or where that concept came to you, but that’s the first time I’ve ever heard anyone use it and it’s probably the worst excuse for not using the death penalty I have ever heard.

Note that the Lord's words about cutting off appendages if they are the cause of sin (though He makes it clear that sin begins in the heart) flows from harming children in ways which turn from from God (which includes fostering gender dysphoria and the industry that results):
And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea. And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: (Mark 9:42-43)

Moreover, public stoning was the normative Biblical form of capital punishment, versus antiseptic executions by the state, and communal stoning corresponds to crime also being against the community in general, and serves as a deterring reminder to all of the consequences of sins (and of false testimony), as well as providing a better sense of justice.

We can come to terms with “the world is filled with bad people”, but it’s harder to swallow “I wasn’t worth protecting.”

And nothing tells the victim of a crime that they weren't worth protecting than not ensuring justice is done.

Wasn't that thought to be hyperbole of the type that was common of the language at the time.

"Taken care of" meaning used by, and with treatment for STI's as well as transurgery being paid for by taxes, and with some claiming to be female... all of which unfairly burdens supporting society, versus voluntary rehab by some.

The absence of a actual prison system is very conspicuous under Moses, since thieves were made to repay their victims, even via slavery, while capital crimes were numerous, yet the execution of such seems to have been rare. Deterrent effect.
