In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. Practice makes perfect.....post on....
amatory \ah*meh*tow*ree\, adjective:
amatorious; adjective
amatoriously; adverb
amatoriousness; noun
1. Pertaining to, producing, or expressing, sexual love; as, amatory potions. [Obs.]
2. Expressive of or exciting sexual love or romance
The Autumnal Recrudescence of the Amatory Urge
When the birds are cacaphonic in the trees and on the verge
Of the fields in mid-October when the cold is like a scourge.
It is not delight in winter that makes feathered voices surge,
But autumnal recrudescence of the amatory urge.
When the frost is on the punkin' and when leaf and branch diverge,
Birds with hormones reawakened sing a paean, not a dirge.
What's the reason for their warbling? Why on earth this late-year splurge?
The autumnal recrudescence of the amatory urge.--Susan Stiles, copyright December 1973

Arghie, I've become a hockey fan. Helena has a minor league (NAHL) hockey team and I've been at all of their home games in the last two months. They've kicked butt on the Fernie (BC) Ghostriders twice.
Friday night they played Bismarck and lost but won the fights. Our team's Captain just beat the crap out of a Bismarck player. It was one of those gloves, helmets and sticks down, jerseys over the head, head under the arm, fist in the face fights all hockey fans love to see.
The same night a Helena player got butt-ended in the eye and collapsed bleeding right in front of me. I woulda jumped in to help him but for the 8 foot glass panes.
Last night they beat the number one team in the division in OT despite the fact that our goalie won't stay in the f*cking crease.

Our goalie for the Predators has been known to skate out and check somebody(hard) into the glass. He's not the passive type. ;)

Goalies shouldn't be checking anyone. They should be slashing guys across the ankles with the lumber when the refs are looking the other way.

Last weekend when our first string goalie wasn't down with the flu, and Helena had a power play he was kicking back in the crease with his helmet off and drinking Gatorade while it was elbows and a$$holes down at the opposing team's blue zone.

Thank you very much! You're either a day early, or just getting the party started early. Then again, thanks to Jeff Van Gundy, this is known as the birthday month. :)

I'm not being driven crazy yet, but I'm sure I will be soon. Our youngest daughter and her hubby live in the city, so they will be here for Christmas. The oldest and her hubby live out of state, had planned to fly in tomorrow, but too many people in his department at work took off-so he is on call all this week, bummer. We are really disappointed about that-they have only seen our new house in pictures, and were really looking forward to being here. Now it will probably be at least February before they get here.

it's also very gratifying to drive across the 14th street bridge, greeted by a big neon road sign saying THREAT LEVEL ELEVATED, REPORT ANY SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY TO HOMELAND SECURITY and it gives the phone no. just dandy!
