The Hobbit Hole XII - Tree and flower and leaf and grass

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Tree and flower and leaf and grass

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Movers coming in Thursday.

Yep...I've got a contract and the folks are supposed to close on the 9th....or the 15th. They keep moving the date on me. Anyway, they want to rent ASAP until closing.

*Sniff*

Maybe I can start a trend: potted kudzu.

It's sad to let a place go. Are they good folk? - Or do ya know?

No clue. The do-it-yourself types. They're driving "up" from out of state. Dunno which state though. One of them has a job here that starts July 1st.

Well, I hope they take good care of your place!

We are leaving here now.... gonna go up to the beach house tonight... taking our VCR to edit the wedding tape and make a few copies. I was not a big fan of taping it (I prefer the fantasy image of me that is in my head) but I am glad we did. I was in such a whir that the tape helps remind me what happened!

Back tomorrow night everyone!

Nah, wasn't the move so much... just woke up in a bad mood this morning, and it didn't improve through the day.

Feeling better now though.

Um...gee thanks. I think we'll stick with the smaller plans. When we get him in his new bed, I'll post some pics of the castle I painted in his room.

Oh, glad you're feeling better now.

Went shopping. Bought stuff. It was tiring. Think I'm going to have an early night.

Heh...no thanks.

I'm lookin' fer some ground cover tho. I'd like to have something that will keep the weeks down, but allow the lilies and the cannas to come up. Or do I just need to keep letting them spread?

Got the grasses planted today. And the cannas and a few other things fed. Rain caught me before I'd finished mulching in tho.

After dinner Nana and I tied the maters further up. One of the vines had gotten so heavy it knocked the stake over. I had to pound it further into the ground. Gonna have to stake the peppers too.

I'm back - we saw the movie. Lot more changed than there was in the earlier movies, I thought. And at the same time, it was more dependent on your having read the books...I would have had a lot of questions if I hadn't read the book first (twice).

And I have a totally different mental picture of Lupin. Totally different. Black, too, for that matter, but it wasn't AS difficult to adjust to the movie version.

Still a pretty entertaining movie, though.

And now I'm off to bed. Gotta get up early if I want to go to the earlier Mass tomorrow, and I do.

There were a lot of differences, weren't there? Lupin's mustache was bad. So was the werewolf. Sirius wasn't too bad at all. We'll have to talk about it more tomorrow!

I need to get to bed now too. Got a new dress to wear to church tomorrow...

OT: "Potted Kudzu" that would be, ah, 'interesting' to say the least. You plan of filling the car with native plant materials and moving them to KS?

Corin, the daylilies will generally shade out the competition, it's always a balancing act though, thick enough to shade the ground but not so thick they start to stifle each other. When they get too dense or crowded, the shorter stalks don't seem to get enough sunlight to bloom properly and you get buds or blossoms but not many.
We need to do some 'series' splitting and moving this fall (we thinks), we'll probably double the area covered now. We also split and moved some into the back yard this spring and they all bloomed well.

There's a few sunflowers, volunteers from the bird feeding efforts. They grow some massive heads, bout a foot in diameter. Needless to say the birds and OT's special furred friends really enjoy them.

I took a couple of bamboo poles and set them in among the joe pye weed we transplanted along the back fence. Used some jute string, tying into screws in the fence and making a two string 'fence' to help hold the joe pye upright.

Congrats on the maters. We've lost a couple to the birds already, but have hopes for a real BLT before too much longer.

I think my sunflowers all washed away. Next year I'm gonna try setting them out inside and planting them. Gonna try the same with the morning glories. They're growing, but I started them too late.

4 o'clocks and the marigolds I started from seed are about to bloom. And the grapevine seems real happy. Lots of new growth.

I am glad you are feeling better! - I am up at the beach house, and we just got done watching O Brother Where Art Thou!

We didn't make it all the way through the other night! - Too late and too tired! What a cute movie. I love the Coen brother's cinematography style... They look at the world a little differ'nt than most folks!
