You are so right my friend. I remember when the movie came out - the libs were freaked that the kids used their weapons at dad's orders to kill the enemy. Great scene. And the Rev grabbing his weapon to march off and kill the oppressors was classic. Reminds me of another great war picture that can not be missed - Sgt. York. Gary Cooper was so great and the storyline (true story) was inspiring. Would love to see that remade today. Possible???? I loved that movie so much that I named by last son, Cooper because of it.

The best part of Sgt. York to me was Pastor Pyle played by Walter Brennan.

I bet that was the last time a fundamentalist preacher was portrayed positievely. He managed to sing "That old time religion" while jumping around and still not look ridicuous.
