I wasn't very big, but guess I had experience on my side. Won the county's Jack Daniels drinking contest at 18, had double vision for two days. Won the Crown Royal drinking contest at 24. Like Marciano, I gave up my belt and retired while I was ahead. No more competitive drinking for me. Now I only drink to excess for my own amusement.
I remember sitting down in my dorm room and quietly working my way through a 1.75 liter bottle of Lord Calvert in a couple of hours, and then hitting the bar. Yeesh. Can't even fathom that now.
I once tried to drink a friend under the table. We split a bottle of gin. Good thing the bottle wasn't bigger. We both felt fine afterward and went for a long walk. Probably helped us the next day.
