One of my faves

Professor Snape: That is the second time you have spoken out of turn, Miss Granger. Are you incapable of restraining yourself, or do you take pride in being an insufferable know-it-all?
Ron: He has a point, you know.

""You know what I think... I think you should go home to Greenbow Ala-*BAMA*!"

That quote makes me want to go beat up hippies!

“I’ll have what she’s having”
and
“She's supposed to be his transitional person, she's not supposed to be the one! All this time I thought he didn't want to get married, but the truth is, he didn't want to marry me. He didn't love me!” -- When Harry Met Sally

“I ain’t got time to bleed”
and
“If it bleeds, we can kill it” -- Predator

“Hasta la vista, baby!” -- Terminator

“Do you mean to tell me my children have been running around SALZburg in nothing but some old drapes?!?!”
“And having a mahhhhvelous time!” -- The Sound of Music

“Life’s full of tough choices, iddn’t it?” -- The Little Mermaid

“We musn't underestimate American blundering. I was with them when they blundered into Berlin in 1918.” -- Casablanca
(Let’s face it, this entire movie is a notable quotation!)

less interested in Eyes Wide Shut and The Shining,

I'm with on EWS, but The Shining is one of the no kidding scariest movies ever made.

The isolation, and near perfect editing and cinematography, rank it up there with The Exorcist and Alien. One of Jack Nicholson's best roles, and the only King novel to translate effectively to the screen.

You can't handle the truth! Son, we live in a world that has walls. And those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago and you curse the Marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that Santiago's death, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives...

You don't want the truth. Because deep down, in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that wall. You need me on that wall.

We use words like honor, code, loyalty...we use these words as the backbone to a life spent defending something. You use 'em as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide, then questions the manner in which I provide it! I'd rather you just said thank you and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you're entitled to!

Introductions before Nicholson, Hunt and Kinnear leave on their trip:

Nicholson: "Carol, the waitress... Simon, the fag."

Tony Montana: I never f##ked anybody over in my life didn't have it coming to them. You got that? All I have in this world is my balls and my word and I don't break them for no one. Do you understand? That piece of shit up there, I never liked him, I never trusted him. For all I know he had me set up and had my friend Angel Fernandez killed. But that's history. I'm here, he's not. Do you wanna go on with me, you say it. You don't, then you make a move.

Favorite John Wayne line, from 'Tall in the Saddle'
An 1880's version of a feminzai wants to hire him as her ranch foreman.
old bitty: "I want you to ride for me".
Duke:"'Lady, I walk for someone else before I'll ride for you".
(ride is cowboy talk for work, for those of you in Vermont.)

Another scene:
Cowboy: 'That guy is an ornery old cuss.'
Duke: 'I like ornery old cusses, hope I live long enough to be one.'

Finally saw this movie last year.

Josey Wales, an easy man to track. Leaves dead bodies wherever he goes.

Josey interrupts the snake oil salesman's pitch by spitting tobacco on his white suit jacket then asks, "How is it with stains?"

Also from 'The Untouchables'-
on the stairway, with the bookkeeper...

" You got him? "
" Yeah, I got him."
" Take him."

A great speech from Aragorn in Return of the King:

Hold your ground, hold your ground! Sons of Gondor, of Rohan, my brothers. I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me. A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of wolves and shattered shields, when the age of men comes crashing down, but it is not this day. This day we fight! For all that you hold dear on this good Earth, I bid you stand, Men of the West!

Is it just me or did we go through many pages of quotes and Braveheart never got a mention?
